Can anyone confirm if 7710 DisplayPort output supports G-Sync monitor ? I am using M6700 and it does.
I use external monitor 95% of the time, and i use mobile workstation mainly for game so G-Sync is very important for me.
Why not use Clevo/Alienware you may ask, because they don't have docking capability, which is ultimate deal breaker for me to travel among 3 stations.

My nVIDIA control panel doesn't list "Set up G-SYNC" page. I think it would be shown under the DISPLAY settings if it were an available feature.
    Capture.PNG

    from their help page:
    Capture2.PNG

Not sure if it is absent in control panel because I do not have a g-sync capable external display connected or if because g-sync is not supported on the MxxxxM quadros (even though they utilize the same gpus as other g-sync capable mobile geforce such as 980M).

If you have a g-sync capable computer connected to multiple displays now, and if one of the displays is g-sync capable, do you still see the "Setup G-SYNC" option in your nvidia control panel even if you disconnect your g-sync display?

But the fact you have m6700 presumably with a quadro and it works with g-sync display makes me think a 7710 with quadro would too, but without a gsync display I can't confirm.

Thx for the reply. Yes a G-Sync monitor is required for the option to appear at Nvidia Control Panel. I am using Acer XB271HU.
Or in another way, may i know how Optimus works in 7710, does graphic card switch automatically or have to set manually like M6700/M6800?
If switch automatically, then most probably G-Sync will not work.

On my m6800 Optimus works automatically, not manually. You can control the GPU per application but you don't have to.

Or do you mean which display connector (hdmi, dp) works with which GPU?

Not sure what you mean here. M6600 and up have automatic switching with Optimus. However, when Optimus is enabled, the display is always driven by the Intel GPU (the NVIDIA GPU just writes output to the Intel GPU frame buffer, and the Intel GPU displays it on the screen). If you want to have the NVIDIA GPU drive the display directly, you have to manually turn Optimus off in the BIOS. Maybe this is what you're talking about?

Anyway there is a key difference between the M6700/M6800 and the 7710 when it comes to external displays. Prior systems had the HDMI and DisplayPorts connected directly to the dGPU (NVIDIA GPU drove external displays even if Optimus was on). With the 7710, with Optimus on, all external displays will be driven by the Intel GPU except for displays attached to the DVI/DP ports on the ePort dock, if you have one of those.

If you have a G-Sync monitor hooked up to the HDMI or mini-DP port on the system, I'm rather sure that you will not get G-Sync support unless you turn Optimus off.

Thx for the explanation, apparently i misunderstood that the on/off Optimus in bios is to select which single GPU to use o_O, I do not know that by enabling Optimus Nvidia can kick in when needed. All the while i set it to Off, I have no interest of using intel GPU.

It is glad to know 7710 still has option to disable Optimus. I use ePort dock to connect to external monitor. I am holding on 7710 earlier because of uncertainty on G-Sync thing, especially the TB15 dock. It will also render my mSATA and 2 of the SATA SDD useless.

Next generation precision should be near, i think it may still follow the outlook of 7710

Unlikely to have a substantially new Precision until Cannonlake, late next year or more likely early 2018 for the higher powered chips. If they bother with a Kaby Lake refresh, or a GPU refresh, there's nothing stopping them doing so in essentially the same motherboard/cooling/chassis. Even if it's labelled the 7520/7720 (and not just new configurations of the 7710), it is almost certainly going to have only minor changes.

I think there's also a real chance they're going to skip Kaby Lake H entirely in all the professional lines, just as they did with Broadwell.

I've been watching the refresh cycles for many years... I believe that they will release a Kaby Lake / NVIDIA Pascal refresh, dubbed 7520/7720, announced sometime in the first quarter of next year. They did skip Broadwell but that was because Intel was having trouble getting the high-end CPUs to market, and by the time they had it worked out Haswell was right around the corner so they ended up skipping it. There is no indication that this will happen with Kaby Lake as far as I know, we are still expecting all of the CPUs to release around 1Q 2017.

It will likely be very similar to the 7510/7710 in terms of design, they usually keep the same design for two or three iterations. Maybe they will toss on a second USB-C/Thunderbolt port.

I want to buy another hard drive for my Precision 7710.

Would the "Seagate 3TB 2.5" Laptop Hard Disk Drive/HDD ST3000LM016" be compatible or is there a limit on the capacity of the drive? (3TB).

    I already have the following:
256GB M.2 PCIe High Performance Solid State Drive, MPWS - came with system
Samsung 960 Pro 1TB M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD - ordered and waiting
    thanks
