Those of you with the 4k/UHD screen - are there any issues with horizontal viewing angles, like some 5510/7510 users have?

Has anyone heard if the M7710s will be compatible with external GPUs connected via the thunderbolt port? It would be nice if Dell implemented this but I have to wonder if they would due to it slowing down future sales.....

    Thanks Hodge,

I ran that command and it returned a 5 without having to unplug any Dell ECC modules.

Regarding external GPU enclosures (such as the Razer Core) and compatibility with the Dell Precisions Thunderbolt 3... it all depends if the Dells are set to support Intel's external graphics standard (which is a thing). Having thunderbolt 3 doesn't automatically mean that a GPU enclosure will work with the laptop.

I don't know if these Dell laptops have adopted the Intel external graphics standard.

"The eGFX standard in turn requires that vendors implement the necessary extensions for external graphics into their BIOS, including functionality necessary to support plug ‘n play operation. Also required is v.16 (or later) of the Thunderbolt firmware, Windows 10, and an active (not passive) Thunderbolt cable for bandwidth reasons."

that article focuses on AMD but the above quoted paragraph applies regardless which external GPU or GPU enclosure via thunderbolt

Same issue with black screen after sleep here. It seems I solved this issue after some change:

    Bios & Drivers:
    - I update BIOS (don't think it solve anything, but i did it)
    - I update latest video drivers (Dell web site)

    OS:
    - I chose to decide when to update Windows 10 & reboot to avoid windows update during sleep (each time it happened, screen was frozen at wake-up, hard reboot needed...)

    In advanced Power management:

    - I disabled events able to exit 'sleep mode'
    - I switch to hybernate when I power off
    - I switch to off-screen when I push 'sleep keys'
    - I do nothing when i close the lid

It seems I had similar issues on my M6600 5 years ago with Win7, I did the same change in my settings (Power management & Windows update).

    Hope it helps, James

Looks positive for eGPU via thunderbolt - names have been edited out but an original copy was sent to my email:

    Hi
    9:54:22 AM [IMG]
Hello, I was interested in the precision m7510 with the Thuderbolt port but was wondering if this was going to support Intels eGPU arcthitecture/standard for connecting external GPUs via Thunderbolt?

Glad that you chatted in today. I would be happy to assist you with that.

Cool. *Hopefully they understood your question and didn't simply say yes. Will you be looking at the Razer Core or another eGFX enclosure? Razer is the only one I know of.
    http://www.anandtech.com/show/10137...x-chassis-499399-amd-nvidia-shipping-in-april

I presume the upcoming AMD Polaris and NVIDIA Pascal cards will also be supported even though they are not listed in that article. *In a different article AMD lists Polaris as being supported for external graphics.

I don't trust the chat support reps to answer these sorts of questions- they just want to make a sale.

    Maybe @DellManoG can comment?
