Just tried to do clean install but I get again the same error. Maybe now I Understood the problem.
I made my Bootable usb through Microsoft tool but I juat discovered it was created 10240 build.
I tried to Google search but it seems Microsoft has removed media creation tool that created 1511 Build.
Any suggestion to solve the problem?
    Thanks

That's strange, are you using a media creation tool that you just recently downloaded? They did remove 10586 shortly after it was released, but they posted it back after a week or so.

Otherwise, I'm not sure, if you can get an ISO of 10586 (or image the DVD that came with your system, if you had one and it is 10586), you can use Microsoft's USB/DVD tool to "burn" it to a USB drive.

    [Edit]
    - OR -
Upgrade from Win7 to Win10 once (free upgrade), and then you can clean install and activate Windows 10 with no key.

    Finally solved, after many hours....
Downloaded 1511 updated to February ISO.
Burn it through USB Rufus utility. And 7 key work directly on 10 clean install in my 950 pro, without 7 update to 10
Needed to to put the F6 driver to get 950 pro to be recognized by 10 at the beginning of install.

Is there any specific driver from samsung to be sure 950pro it is correctly recognized? Installed Samsung Magician but it seems it does not "catch" the information from "its" drive

Ordered the follwing from Dell for the 7710:

    A8650534 Dell 16GB Certified Memory Module - DDR4 SODIMM 2133MHz

$175 for two 16GB sticks. Better price than I saw Crucial so I went with the Dell.

Depending on the cloning software, the cloning may or may not leave the exact same free-space fragmentation on the new drive. And again, personally I'd ditch the subpar Dell image and install clean.

That wasn't my point; IME Dell techs (especially if you don't pay for prosupport) is pretty quick to blame software problems. If you've got a clean image handy, you can (honestly) say you've replicated the problem on a clean copy of their image.

I wouldn't recommend doing so either (although the mounting bracket issue is an annoyance on some models; can't remember if it is on the 7710) but

Far less durable. That said, the Windows 10 media USB is a lot better than a recovery USB (which you can create yourself for free) because it's missing the Dell customizations.

I am doing a clean install to a 512GB Samsung 950 pro. 7710 came with a PCIe SSD (standard performance 256GB). I am using the MS Install Media. Do I need to put the Intel Rapid Storage Technology F6 Driver on the USB? Also, I am not doing RAID. should I set to AHCI instead of RAID. I read through forums, but this is still not clear to me.

    thanks

Well I am installing using the MS USB. I changed to AHCI. I am not doing raid so I figure that is ok. I did not need any special driver (I think I read that on here previously that with AHCI it is not needed). Still curious if I should not have switched to AHCI. System was already set to UEFI.

I have the UHD screen. The dialogue box on the windows setup is tiny. Hard to read. I guess it does not do any scaling for the setup.

Once in windows, I will need to figure which drivers I need to install. I took a screen shot of all that was installed from the factory default. I do not think I need things like Intel Rapid Store since I am not doing raid.

Well, ran into an issue. with the new install of windows, it does not install any drivers to include network drivers. I am in windows, but seems I need to manually a network driver. When I did this a few weeks ago on a M6800, I did not have this issue. The win version is the 1511, so i think it is the latest build USB. Just not sure why it did not install by default. Any ideas?

installed the network driver and then windows update took over. Still not sure why windows did not install one by default.

well, starting installing some additional drivers. Cannot get the Control Vault or Thunderbolt Drivers to install. When I try to install the Dell ControlVault2 Driver, A "Windows Installer" Dialogue opens. I hit ok, then it says driver install failed. I can view the log, but not sure what it says. Same happens with thurnderbolt driver.

Wondering if I should just image the 256GB PCIe that came with Win 10 to the 512GB PCIe and just uninstall the few Dell programs I do not want.

Edit. I originally changed the downloaded file name. I re-downloaded and did not change the name and the install worked for both Control Vault and Thunderbolt Drivers.

Edit 2: I have installed a bunch of dell drivers. All the chipsets and a few others and getting frustrated with this. If the system came with Win10, is there any benefit of doing a clean install? Or is imaging from the old PCIe SSD to a new PCIe SSD just as good?

I care more of performance and reliability in the long run. Just want to make sure I get it right.
