Doesn't look like they're UDMA 5... so you're stuck in UDMA 2 with these drives...

In the datasheets (available at http://www.kingspec.com/support/downloads.asp) it says that the both comply to the ATA-7 standard and that they both have UDMA transfer mode 0,1,2,3,4,5,6.

I'm not very good at specs, but I guess that means they are UDMA 5 - right?

Yeah! Who's up for it? If I could find one in Europe I'd do it today!

I also love the X1 (we own 2 of them) however the Latitude E4200 is more than a worthy successor. 2.2lbs, SU9600 cpu, 5gb of DDR3 memory, backlit keyboard, 128gb SSD and eSATA support.

But the Latitude E4200 has a fan - that's a downer. The one thing that make me want to still use the X1 and that make it stand out in the crowd is the fanless design, I'd say. :(

I would really like it, if only...

That's the point. I love my Latitude X1 for being very quite. Even more, since I upgraded it with a SSD, it's completely silent. Fan on - fan off - fan on - this kind of noise would drive my crazy. In user's reviews for the E4200 on the (german) Dell website there are many complaints about this. I don't trust in so-called "silent" notebooks anymore, when they have a fan.

I would prefer a message box popping up: "It's getting hot in here. Should I slow down, take a rest, or start the fan?" And once the fan is started, it should stay on until the notebook is cool enough to give me at least 30 minutes of silence again. But in most cases I would choose "slow down", as I don't need 30 frames per second for reading online documentation... ;)

What is the advantage of this drive?
