I have politely requested that my case be escalated to the next level: system replacement. We shall see what becomes of that. If this doesn't work, I will be forced to pursue alternative means... I paid a lot of money for this machine and frankly it doesn't work as described and I am way out of the return window... I'm sure the BBB or my close attorney friend would love to hear about my situation. I'm not throwing small claims court of the window, honestly.

Edit: And Dell really botched the A07 firmware. I upgraded to it a few days after it's release and my machine has acted up ever since. It still feels a little wonky even after downgrading to A05... And guess what? Dell has sense pulled A07 from their servers... GTFO... Actually, I am going to email my support guy and mention this too... If I have reason to believe that their faulty BIOS update further screwed up my machine, I will increase my entitlement to prompt resolution.

Hopefully it won't have to go that far. I got an auto reply back saying that my rep was out of the office. In that message it lists him as being available until 9pm and I sent the message at ~730. What gives? I've never had such a crazy ordeal with Dell reps.

That is interesting about the firmware. I hated how it limited the CPU speed with my 90w adapter - didn't notice any other issues with it though

I noticed it didn't show up for me when I entered my service tag, I had to choose the generic E6540 to find the A07. Now that you mention it, my system has been a bit buggy since updating. I noticed I've had problems waking from sleep with my second monitor.

I'm gonna go check out laptops at Best Buy tomorrow. The inspiron 15 7000 series caught my eye. Only had a dual core i7, but also a 750m and IPS screen. I'm hoping to hear back tomorrow, but according to the auto email I got, my guy doesn't work again until Sunday :(

@ veekay, notebook check measured the system to pull ~88W under full load. Even assuming 100% efficiency from that 90W adapter, you're on the edge. If be careful running anything major on that adapter..

I was thinking about the Inspiron 15 as well, but the clickpad sank it for me, absolutely hate using them with Windows PCs. I've only seen Apple successfully pull it off with their Macs.

Bit of a long shot here, but do you think you could request an Alienware unit? I'm not a fan of the design personally but they typically have beefier cooling.

Doubt it.. I imagine they would want to keep it in the business class. Otherwise we'd lose business class warranty. Kind of limits the options.. Plus, with alienware we'd either drop to a 14" of have to move up to a 17".

    7.

So all in all I have a 6540 that can't hibernate, overheats, crashes while checking its Windows Experience Index, and has a dead pixel in its also otherwise crappy display. Yaay~

Try the graphics drivers from the Intel and AMD website. 1st and 3rd problem may be due to graphics drivers.

Case has been reassigned to a case manager from the "Dell Resolution Expert Center".. He emailed me asking for the details (which I copied and pasted from the correspondence with the last guy because I'm getting tired of explaining myself), but said he wouldn't be in the office until Monday due to adverse weather conditions. He must be in Round Rock, people in CenTex don't do well with a little snow and ice :p

Can you get me in touch with this guy? I'm getting stonewalled. Unisys called me today and officially broke the news: parts backordered with no ETA, "sorry."

I passed my situation on to Twitter team and they said they are looking into alternative options, but their wording was "we will see if there is any thing else we can do"
