I could swear it didn't used to be that way (I have done a lot of mock-up configurations on the E6530), but it is now. For grins I chatted with a Dell rep who said there was no other option. You can always try the Outlet and see if there is anything there with a quad i7 and integrated graphics (there doesn't seem to be any at the moment)

    Hello everyone,

I bought a Dell e6530 yesterday, and I just don't like the 1366x768 display. Can anyone let me know if I can replace the display with a 900 or 1080 display? I am not sure if the intel HD 4000 can handle the higher resolution display.

If you just bought it, you should be able to return it for a full refund. Without being an expert, the integrated graphics should be able to handle a 1080P screen fine...the E5530 latitudes come with no option for dedicated graphics and seem to be able to run the 1080P screens just fine.

Thank you, robs10. I bought it used, so return is not an option. I just could not find a Dell config has the 1080p screen and only has integrated video card. I am worrying it may burn the video card.

I have another question on external monitor support. I connected two external monitors to the e-port docking, one on the DVI and one on the VGA. The problem is I cannot have display on three screens (two external monitors and built-in display). I can have two externals or one external+built-in display. My old HP or Lenovo laptop can support three screens with a docking.

Can anyone share your experience on multiple monitor support?

I just ordered this laptop with a 500gb hybrid drive. I'm not sure of the exact specs on the hybrid drive, but any reason it would be incompatible with the plan to move it to the cd drive bay and install an SSD as the os boot drive?

Also, any recommendations for the cheapest drive caddy that will match the case?

Hey everyone, it's nice to be on the Dell forums. I am going to receive the E6530 next week so I have a few questions. I bought the E6530 with the regular hard drive so I eventually, maybe soon, want to upgrade it to an SSD. I was wondering what is the height of the SSDs it will accept. I am going to assuse that 2.5" is the width. Also, I would like to put the same exact factory image on the new SSD. For this, I was thinking of putting the restore software on the new SSD. I am going to assume that Dell provided this software to burn on DVDs. I would appreciate a confirmation though.

Also, I was wondering if the Latitude has battery settings that allows the user to control the battery charge thresholds for longer battery life.

Appreciate any responses. Nice to be here.

So I just got the E6530 and it is a really nice laptop. Very solidly made, feels top notch. Keyboard is pleasant to use. The overall build quality is excellent.

One thing I would mention is there is some screen-door effect on the screen (FHD) when viewed slightly up close. When a bit further away, this effect goes away. So it is not really bad. The screen overall is good - the viewing angles are good, the text is crisp and the colors are vivid. Anyone else have similar results?

I want to eventually install an SSD so I'm wondering if the height should be 7mm or 9mm? Also, I plan to put the recovery software on a dvd and then just install it on the SSD? Good move?

    Thanks.

Both 7mm and 9 mm will work in the E6530. Personally, I would go for a clean install on the SSD or a clone (using the recovery DVDs would amount to something close to cloning).

Depending on which SSD you buy, some have bundled cloning software or others offer a cloning tool available for download like Intel.

I prefer to do the recovery DVD's option in case of problems with cloning. So the drive cage will accommodate both sizes? Very good to know. Thank you.
