Thanks for the update. I notice the same thing on my E6530 with FHD (I have an E6520 with FHD for work and it does not show the screen door effect). I'm curious how you explained this problem to support?? Also, please let us know if the replacement is better.

Any word on how this worked out? Also, I didn't see any solid confirmation that the main sata port supports Sata 3 - I've assumed it does but this thread doesn't quite confirm that - or did I miss something?

    Hello All.
What's the difference between simple E6530 and E6530 N-Series? It's only software, or some hardware also?

I wanna buy E6530 with Windows 8 Pro and Finger Print.
My supplier told me what not possible to order Windows 8 Pro with Finger Print, and offer to order without OS. But, they will sell it to me with a Windows 8 Pro OEM.

Is it true (not possible Windows 8 Pro with Finger Print)?

I'm shy, what in future will have difficulties with MS Windows.

I have Win8 Pro on mine now and the FingerPrint reader does not work. There is no digitally signed driver for it. I hope they're working on it!!! (there's also no driver for the finger pointer/mouse device either)

So I got my Intel Centrino Ultimate-N 6300 card installed. Device Manager sees it as what it is, but I cannot connect to or see any networks. I'm running the latest driver (15.5.7) from Intel's site. When I run the Manual Diagnostics Tool in Intel Wireless Troubleshooter, it says "Hardware Test: Failed - Wireless Hardware is not bound to the transport driver". Any thoughts?

Dell ControlVault driver for 64 bit
DDPA 2.3 release supporting ControlVault Firmware for DDPA

And. have a chat with Dell sales person, and she told me what I can buy this kind configuration without problem.

I installed both of those (the one for 64-bit and the DDPA 2.3 release). There is no longer an exclamation point in Device Manager for the fingerprint reader, but I get an error when trying to "Manage your fingerprint data" in User Accounts.

    "C:\Program Files\Broadcom Corporation\Broadcom USH Host Components\BrcmFMA.exe

The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application even log or use the command-line sxstrace.exe for more detail."

I want to say that I saw a number of these configurations in Dell Outlet early January, where I bought my own 6530. So you might want to search in there. Sorry, but their website is very annoying to use. Still, you might be able to find what you're looking for. And they're having a sale, 15-25% off on the 2012 models. :)

I contacted Intel through their site. They are saying that since I am an end-user and installed the card myself, they are not required to support it. (?) This card is an option on Dell's site. Needless to say I'm responding....

Does anyone have this adapter? (preferably running Win8, but Win7 might help too)

Side note: I got the blu-ray burner reading blu-ray movies! Well, at least the only one I have tried thus far. I'm going to try more movies and hope it keeps working.

    Intel responded back.....

"Please note that even tough DELL* has this card as an option for your computer it does not mean that the adapter can be installed as an aftermarket solution by you, it has to be installed by DELL* technicians using an specific Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) adapter part number validated for your computer as per FCC regulations.

If your adapter was purchased from DELL* directly I would suggest contacting them for support, if the adapter was purchased from a different source, it is certain that the adapter will not work, since it is not the specific SKU used and validated by DELL*.

Our Wireless drivers have been tested and validated for Windows*8; The fact that the adapter does not pick up any signal is a clear indication that the adapter is not being recognized and handled correctly at BIOS and /or Operating System level. If it is seen in Device Manager, it seems to me that the OS is seeing the card.

Intel as part of the WIFI alliance is bound to comply with the existing FCC regulations, therefore as stated on the previous contact, for this type of integration Intel is precluded to provide any recommendations. Basically wiping their hands of having to deal with me."

I have just removed the 6300 card and re-installed my original card. Device Manager is seeing the card, but again I am not seeing any wireless networks. HELP!!!!

    Hello,

I'm going to order a latitude e6530 pretty soon.

I'm wondering if I should get the ssd 128 Go option ( + 110 € ie ~ $150) and then add by myself a classic hdd drive, removing the optical drive

    OR

get the latititude without the ssd option (hdd 320 Go 7200/m), buy a 128 Go SSD somewhere then put it in the laptop.

In any case, I want to have a SSD, I just don't know what's the best option ! I believe the SSD given is the samsung pm830, what's the best option you think ?

Can I find somewhere a 128 Go (or maybe more ?!) SSD for <= $150, and maybe get better performance than the given samsung pm830 ? (I believe I have to buy something, a "caddy", to add a second SSD/hdd right ? )

Also, I'll order with linux ( ubuntu), so I'm sparing a few $ since I own Windows Licence. Do you think I'll be fine changing to windows as soon as I receive the laptop ? Burn windows 7/8 image on a dvd, I boot on it using the bios.

Installation process, I erase everything on the hdd/ssd and then I proceed with the installation of windows, does that sound ok ? Everything will be fine, I don't know, drivers or anything ?

sorry for the bad english, from Europe and not from UK :)

    thanks in advance!
