i am unable to press both the left and up arrow keys -- can anyone confirm that they are able to (e.g. in world of warcraft or something)?

Ditto that with me, I don't really care, I just booted up some free racing game to see how to Intel x4500 did.

used both of my housemates thinkpad T60 and X60
the thinkpad touchpoint is much better than the e-series
although e-series one is still usable, but it is not an easy job to control as i experienced on the thinkpad

Oh, as far as the drifting issue, have you tried removing the nub and putting it back on?

Regarding the keyboard issue: Does anyone here have a non-backlit keyboard and can check if the problem with multiple pressed keys will appear there, too? Just to be sure there is no fundamental difference besides plenty of LEDs...

Has someone contacted dell about the keyboard? It's not only gaming problem, multikey key shortcuts are also used in some sw.

Btw. from wikipedia: "Cursor drift is a ubiquitous problem among pointing sticks, requiring frequent recalibration. However, TrackPoints automatically recalibrate when the stick recognizes a steady cursor drift; to trigger a recalibration, the user must lift his finger temporarily off the TrackPoint for about 1 second."

I contacted them and they said it is normal. There is no fix.

Though about that Trackpoint quote. It is exactly what I experience. The Trackpoint starts drifting, i let off, and in about a second while it drifts steadily it re-calibrates. Quite disappointing. Had not noticed this on other Trackpoints I have used. At least not nearly this bad. Almost every 5 seconds I have to lift off to let it 're-calibrate'.

Ok, but is it like when I press and hold 'a' and then 's' and then release 's', I typed 'aaaaaassssss' (this is normal for me) or it's like 'aaaas' or it's 'aaaaa'? (hope you understand) :)

It is like your last example. If you press and hold c, then press and hold d for a bit, then let go of d, you never get any d. You will have 'cccccccccc'.

This brings the issue I have when using 'cd' in Linux. My typing habits are such that I type c and then also d while I am still holding down c. I let go of both keys and the d never shows up. It forces me to slow my typing down a lot when working in the Linux shell.

There are some other key combinations that do this also. Such as left arrow and up arrow. But I have not noticed any other combinations causing problems in my normal typing yet.
