The E6540 is available to order now.....hopefully that means the E6440 is not too far behind. Looking to get into the Haswell processors!

E6440 and pretty much all of the models except the E6540 are delayed as many of the Haswell processors are not out yet... the E6440 is due Sept per this thread http://forum.notebookreview.com/del...ext-generation-haswell-based-latitudes-2.html

Probably going to be more like the current E6430s -- already confirmed only up to 37W TDP so possibly no quad core, although reduced wattage one is possible. Best available info here: 4.jpg

E7440, replacing the E6430 should be out sooner, but ultrabook-y.

Design refresh with the E6540/E6440 seems very mild. Changes to the T440s look rather bigger (and more of an ultrabook direction.) You might want to look at the E7440, which replaces the E6430u.

I have an E6430 ATG. I installed Windows 8 Pro x64 on it without any dell drivers. I noticed high DPCs today after resuming from sleep. This happened more than once and when it happens it's consistent (like 20% continuously, regardless of what's happening on the laptop). I started a thread in the forum here:
Latitude E6430 ATG - High DPCs in Windows 8 x64

Is there some sort of wiki or something that lists common problems with E6430 models? Has anyone noticed anything similar in Windows 8 Pro x64? I'm using the latest BIOS, A11.

    Thanks!

I've seen a very similar intermittent problem with high DPCs a couple of times on Windows 7. The first time I saw it, rolling back from the Intel MSM driver to the Microsoft AHCI driver fixed it for a while. It recurred when Microsoft pushed a new driver for the ethernet adapter on Windows Update. Uninstalling all the drivers for the wired ethernet card, and reinstalling from Intel's site fixed it until it picked up the MS update -- when it recurred. Uninstall, reinstalling from Intel, and hiding the update I have not seen it since.

The E6430 does not (ditto the E6530); we borrowed the mSATA card from our eval M4700 to check it and no luck :(

Thanks for the info. I have not installed any third party drivers yet, at least I don't think so. I had wiped the hd then put win8 pro on it. I ran the xperf tool to trace dpcs by doing "xperf -on latency" and then shortly thereafter "xperf -stop". I opened kernel.etl in xperfview and found that consistently (I did this whole process a few times) that the driver with the DPCs was ACPI.sys. It ate 10% DPCs from two functions. Unfortunately I don't know much about this tool and I can't figure out a way for it to auto-resolve the function names (seen below as 0xfffff88001152110 at 7.71% dpcs and 0xfffff880011528e8 at 3.19% dpcs). My guess is acpi or something communicating with it causes a loop but I have no idea why. If anyone knows how I can manually map those function addresses to their names please let me know.

    Code:
Module, Function, Count, Max Actual Duration (ms), Avg Actual Duration (ms), Actual Duration (ms), % Actual Duration, Enter Time (s), Exit Time (s)
    ACPI.sys, , 8257687, 0.454688, 0.013252, 109435.100095, 10.89, 1.289347110, 252.387340436
    , 0xfffff88001152110, 5589215, 0.452405, 0.013851, 77421.770156, 7.71, 1.289347110, 252.387340436

Hi, couple of weeks back, i got a brand new Dell Latitude E6430 laptop at work. I seem to be having a strange problem with it and wanted to see if anyone else had similar issues and if so, what action they took.

Sometimes when i use the laptop, i get stomach aches and also head aches. It only happens when i am connected to the internet either through Wifi or through ethernet cable. If i disconnect the internet connection, the problem stops right away. And these problem happens only when i am using the laptop and only when i am connected to the internet.

I don't think it is anything to do with sensitivity to electro magnetic waves or something similar. Did anyone have a similar problem and if so how you dealt with it. Thanks.

Did you look in the BIOS to make sure you don't accidentally have "Enable tummyachs" and "Enable headaches" checked?

I find it hard to believe the problem stops right away if you disconnect from the internet.
