I have the 2720 qm with Nvidia Optimus and the 4200m GPU.
I can not confirm your problem. No pixelation issues.

I was thinking about getting the same configuration on a new E6420. How's the battery life (do you use the 9 cell)? Is the weight of the laptop easy to carry around? How do you like the screen (1300 or 1600 reso)?

I can't help but wonder why the quality control is sooo bad on these. People are on their 4th replacement systems and still getting ones with scratches and dents. I don't recall the E6400 launches being this bad.

Not hating as I love the design of these, but just saying, Dell if your out there...get your crap together.

I would get the better screen, I think the weight is around 4.6 pound with the 6 cell battery, the 9 cell battery will stick out the back.

I had one that I just sent back due to some things not working when I got it and it is cheaper now but they couldn't refund me the money as the configuration wasn't the same otherwise I would have just got an exchange.

It is heavier then I would like as I am trying to find a replacement for the XPS M1330 notebook but so far haven't found anything that I really like except for the Latitude E6420 notebook.

9-cell estimates 8-9 hours, I love it but it sticks indeed out.
None of the 14" backpaks/bags fit this laptop so I had to choose a 15-16" model bag.

Take the better screen, it's much better than the lower resolution.
1 problem I have is with the HDMI. PC doesn't restore my 1600 resolution when I unplug the HDMI cable (not connected to FULL HD TV). I need to change it manually afterwards :(

Can someone with the 6 cell battery weigh their laptop? Dell says it starts at 4.56lbs. but the reviews say that it weighs 6.2lbs. with the 9 cell. I can't imagine that the 9-cell weight 1.6lbs more than the 6 cell though, so I'm a little confused.

Also, does anyone with the 6-cell have a battery life?

I'm one of those people. First machine had a very wobbly base and uneven keyboard backlight. First replacement had nicks and dings all around the silver surrounding base. Second replacement had nicks and dings and the fingerprint reader did not work. They have already ordered my third replacement. Should be here late next week or early the week after that.

At least Dell has done the right thing. It's a bit frustrating but I don't feel ignored or like this is my fault.

Shopping for a SSD for a new 6420, I have had an Intel 80gb in my E6400 since new and its been great. Looking at options for a new SSD for the E6420 and the various options Intel offers. mSATA, the 3xx series and the 5xx series. Can the E6420 take advantage of the extra speed in the 5xx series? Is one particularly appropriate for this laptop? 80 to 120GB is plenty big enough for the boot drive. More concerned with speed vs $$ and real vs spec differences.

    Thanks!
