A quick question: does anyone know what hard drive Dell uses for its 128GB SSD? (I apologize if it's been asked before.)

Very probably (but I can't promise) Samsung.

So, something that's probably a couple generations old, well behind a X25, in other words?

If so, damn. I wish he'd have listened to me and not ordered that.

I've seen the high rest 6420 and own the 6410 as well. The 6420 screen is WAY better.

I am EXTREMELY picky about my screens too. I have an XPS 14 that I did a screen swap on and a Sony Z which both are absolute top notch screens as reference.

My 6410 and the ones I've seen from co-workers were pretty awful in comparison to be frank.

I agree. I have an E6420 now after upgrading from an E6410. I like the screen much better on the E6420.

On another note....for those who are using colorimeters on their E6420, what gamma are you using? Standard 2.2 seems to be a little washed out.

Samsung's current main SSD product is the 470 series which is in the same performance range as the Intel X25 and 320 SSDs.

Anyone have a picture or comments about the E-modular USB 3.0 accessory? Stinks that they didn't incorporate USB 3.0 into the chassis itself, but wondering if the USB 3.0 module is kinda empty like those old "Airbays" save for a bit of plastic towards the front to house the USB 3.0 ports? If so it could hopefully bring down the weight of the E6420 a noticeable amount and probably the default module for me. If there's empty space it's be sweet if they made a 2.5" HDD / USB 3.0 combo E-module.

I own one but have it in my office, so will be more precise (and send some photos, if necessary) on monday. In any case, consider that the cdrom module is very light, something around 120g., so there is not much advantage in using the usb 3.0 module, at least from the point of view of weight.

Cool thanks, a quick pic would be appreciated! I can't seem to find any info or pics of it google search or even Dell's website. I can't even find it or its part number to order separately! Just ordered an E6420 so excited to play with it. I don't mind the new looks or that orange band around the keyboard, as long as I don't have that seemingly annoying front-right corner bottom clip issue where it keeps popping out.
