No, margagn needs to find out which driver is causing the issue. Could also be a bad software installation since it is at boot... could do an msconfig and kill each boot process until the culprit is found.

Friend of mine has deployed many of these notebooks without reports of freezing.

    Cannot Configure Latitude ON Reader

I have tried to configure the ON Reader on my just arrived E6410 using the Configuration Software (ConfigureToolOutlook.exe) provided. However, I just get message saying "Reader 2.0 Configuration will be disabled if Microsoft Outlook is not installed on your system." This message box does not allow me to proceed with configuration.

I do have Outlook installed so I am not sure why the ON Reader software is not able to see this. Has anyone else had this problem? Can anyone help in solving this?

Thanks very much for any assistance.

I have done that already. I have even seen the laptop freezing in Safe Mode while looking at the Device Manager... So I don't think it is a driver issue.

The problem I have right now is that I am unable to reproduce consistently the freeze.

Does anybody know of a sort of stress test I could run on the machine?

Why don't you call call Dell and have your laptop fixed, and be done with it.

Yeah, just call dell and get the replacement shipped out to you (I just did). I think it's not worth trying all the troubleshooting and time I have to put in this new laptop. Seems like there are many others not having freezing issues.

I am sure it was either a manufacture error, or a bad batch. Else it would be big news like the throttling problem on the E6400 with Intel GPU's.

Has anyone been able to successfully do a fresh install of Windows XP in AHCI mode with BIOS A03? I always get a stop error with 0x0000007B. I have a 2nd E6410 running in AHCI mode with BIOS A01 with no problems doing a fresh install of XP.

I called Dell support and they told me to put it in ATA, which isn't what I'm looking for.

Dell has updated the support site with a Win 7 64-bit compatible version of the BIOS update for E6410. The "P02" patch must be applied before the "A03" BIOS. I ran both today on an E6410, no problems.

Anyone have any experience with a "Fenvi" HDD adapter for the media bay? I got one for my E6410 and I was able to confirm that it was recognized by Windows as another hard drive so I know that it does "work". However besides being a tight fit, there's no pull tool to remove it from the slot. So I'm wondering if anyone else has used them on E6410 (or any E-series for that matter) and if there is a trick I'm not figuring out or maybe I just got a badly made one that's too thick?

Does anyone know whether the keyboard of the E6500 fits into a E6410? Would be nice if someone who owns a E6410 with backlight keyboard could also post its model number/manufacturer.
I've got an E6500 and two backlight keyboards ,as I got one for replacement. The one I prefer is from Sunrex Tech Group (DBXAX16). Compared to the other one it feels much more spongy when typing, but typing itself is very soft. The other one has a better backlight implementation as the light does not shine through the spacing of the keys, but typing causes a lot of noise and also the keystroke requires much more pressure. Therefore I would be glad to reuse my keyboard when I'll get my ordered E6410.
