You have a circuit board or cable (one of which, I can't find it on the service manual), that is your pour power button on your laptop. It needs to be connected. If it's not connected, you are not going to be able to power up your system.

ok robin there are 3 ribbons. of them. The thing is, there is a black jumper kinda thing that broke off both motherboards when I was replacing. The ribbon seems to go under it. I'm not sure if that would cause an issue. I just resorted to pushing the ribbon in but it seems loose. Could this causing the prob

Do you mean the plastic bracket that secures the ribbon cable? If so, then yes, you have a problem...for now, push down on the cable and see if it powers up (you don't need to have the keyboard installed).

Update, motherboard now powers on but with 2 issues. If the ac adapter is plugged in with a battery installed...I get a continuous blue/orange flashing battery led which seems to mean that an unsupported or none dell adapter is inserted (adapter is fine..been using it for 2 years without problems)

Problem number 2. Both motherboards have the flashing (a lock) led which indicates from the manual that memory installed but has error. I have 3 sticks of ram and all 3 were working in the old motherboard before.

    Any ideas?

Have you tried a different AC adapter or a different battery?

I would recommend completely tearing down the laptop and putting it back together VERY carefully (cross-referencing with the service manual for each step of the process, and checking that every connector and ribbon cable is fully seated). If you are still having problems, boot it with minimal configuration (one stick of RAM, no HDD, no ODD, no WLAN, no WPAN, no WWAN).

    Good afternoon.

Two days ago, my E6410 froze on Windows XP's log-in screen, forcing me to shut it off and back on.

Today, when I started the machine, I heard 4 (or 5, not sure) loud beeps after which operations continued normally, I booted in Windows and used it without problems.

To investigate, I did the following:

    1. F12 Diagnostics, including the long tests that returned no errors.
    2. Checked BIOS logs but there is nothing unusual
    3. Checked Windows' Event Viewer but also there, there is nothing unusual.
    4. Scanned the Seagate drive the machine came with with SeaTools, SMART check and also the quick one, no errors found.

    What could it be? :)

The only thing that I noticed is that the battery health is low but unless I'm wrong, when the battery is about to die, I get a warning in Windows XP(it happens with my D520 at least) so I very much doubt it's a battery "warning".

    Thank you.

My new E6410 is coming with this part: KTPRC: Assembly, Heatsink, Central Processor Unit, Notebook, Discrete Video, E6410

But there is no explicit mention of the Nvidia GPU in the spec list. Should I still be expecting the dedicated card?

What are you trying to do? It sounds like you're trying to guess the configuration based on the parts breakdown.

If it comes with DP/N KTPRC, it should have discrete graphics unless the motherboard had been changed. Systems with integrated graphics have a different heatsink (DP/N TNP01, which has a thinner heat pipe and no GPU contact point).
