    1. Is the problem present when you first boot the system and/or go into the BIOS?

    2. Have you tried running the system diagnostics at boot-up to test the video?

I suspect the cable is flaky due to repeated opening/closing of the notebook lid, which may have caused it to become physically stressed over time and is pulling on and/or potentially shorting out one of the video data channels.

You may have temporarily resolved the issue when moving the cable while replacing the display a few months ago, but it may be back for good this time.

Typically, whenever I replace a display panel, I also replace the cable just to ensure all is well.

Just replaced the heat sink grease from the stock Dell stuff to some ArticSilver 5. Here are the temperature results:

Before: (taken when I first got the laptop about a year ago)

    After:

    Idle:

Quite pleased with the results, so if anyone is wondering whether or not they should change their paste i.e. fan's running more often then I would say it's definitely worth it.

This is with the Intel Graphics chipset & i5 560m. Maximum heat option was selected in Prime95.

Yes, the E6410 is designed to support any standard 9.5mm tall HDD/SSD.

Dell would typically install a Samsung PM800 in these if the SSD option was chosen.

They've removed A11 for some reason, which was why A09 has a newer date. Go with A10.

I was wondering if it is possible to be able to get the Nvidia NVS graphics that can be on this laptop and install one myself? Is this possible? I really don't like the integrated graphics on the i5 560m.

You'll need to replace the motherboard, so it probably won't be cost-effective.
