    Hi Robin24k,

Unfortunately I am not able to cancel the order without taking a significant loss on shipping and other charges. I appreciate all the advice I am getting from you.

    1. Are there any performance or compatibility issues with PM800 vs. PM810?

    2. My dell 6410 has core i7 620m 8gb ram windows 7 professional 64bit. Bios A11. Right now I am dual booting windows 7 and windows 8 consumer preview.

    Thanks,
    Uday.
    3. I have already made a backup of all the imp files I need and I am ready to clean install win7 and win8 cp. What drivers do I need for the ssd(pm800) and where do I get those?

The exact model number of the ssd and eBay link is attached in my previous post.

Is it likely Dell will provide updated Windows 8 drivers for a relatively old machine like the E6410?

Last time I tried things worked pretty well but still, having officially supported Win8 drivers would be nice.

I'm also curious if Win8 can natively use the 5540 WWAN card, has anyone tried it?

You will get better performance with the PM810, but it's not as siginificant as the lack of TRIM on that model PM800. Without TRIM, the useful life of the SSD will be greatly reduced. Since the seller offers returns, just send it back and it'll only cost you USPS 1st Class postage, which should only be $1.64 for up to 3 oz. (print it through PayPal).

I doubt there will be official Windows 8 drivers, but most Windows 7 drivers should be compatible. Dell provides drivers for operating systems that the system ships with, and new E6410's are no longer being shipped...

BTW, it's not a good idea to post your service tag since it's the serial number, so edit it out when you get a chance.

I am planning to upgrade the memory of my E6410 to 8GB (2x4GB), but I am not sure which DDR3 to choose.
I have have to choose between the 1066MHz and the 1333MHz one.

Which one is going to offer better performance (their price is the same)?

    My current specification is:
    Intel Core i7-620M 2.67GHz
    2x2GB RAM DDR3-1066MHz
    512MB Nvidia NVS 3100M
    Windows 7 Professional x64

I have found the following Kingston memories:
    DDR3-1066MHz
    KVR1066D3S7 (Part No: 190-30-KG10664S)

    DDR3-1333MHz
    KVR1333D3S9 (Part No: 190-30-KG13334S)

Are they compatible for my E6410?

Both will work, although you may get slightly more performance out of the 1333MHz one. It'll also be more future-proof should you get a new laptop.

I got Patriot 4GB 1333MHz modules from Amazon for $21.99 each. I think the price for 1066MHz and 1333MHz should be pretty close, so there's no reason to get the slower 1066MHz.

I am just worrying, if 1333MHz is actually behaving worse than 1066MHz for my laptop.
Now my laptop has 2x2GB DDR3-1066MHz, so I guess I will not have to change anything in BIOS if I buy the 2x4GB DDR3-1066MHz.
But, if I buy 2x4GB DDR3-1333MHz should I change something from BIOS?

I am not an expert in tweaking Memory Bus with CPU Clock speed and I am not even sure if there is such a case to worry about.
Is the i7-620M CPU, that my laptop has, affected or is it auto-adjusting the frequency clocks to the best?

    Also, what about CAS Latency?
My RAM now has CL 7 settings.
Should I choose the same for the new memory I am going to install or is it better to put CL 9 or is this an auto adjusted setting?

Well, I will give it a try for about $40 since a new laptop is a bit much more expensive
1066MHz and 1333MHz have the same price, so this is not a criterion to choose one or the other.

I don't think the E6410 will run at 1333 MHz (spec sheet says 1066), I put 1066 in mine and everything's fine.
Plus I believe when I factored in the CAS latency the 1333 and 1066 chips were actually just as fast, the 1333 had the same latency as the 1066 chips.

    Of course it will run!

I have checked the DELL accessories for E6410.
    See below:
    For DDR3-1333MHz (Dell Part : A5180214): DELL 4 GB Memory Module for Dell Latitude E6410 - DDR3-1333 SODIMM 2RX8 Non-ECC : Computer Components | Dell UK
    For DDR3-1066MHz (Dell Part : A3698654): DELL 4 GB Memory Module for Dell Latitude E6410 - DDR3-1067 SODIMM 2RX8 Non-ECC : Computer Components | Dell UK

Also, you have to consider that I have the i7 processor that supports 1333MHz.

well i just recently got a pair of 1333mhz as well..they will run fine and as stated will be more future proof. The 1333 will be clocked down to 1066 until you get a quad core cpu

Actually, many E6410's come with 1333MHz modules, so it definately works. ;)

When I first got my E6410, I used 1066MHz modules from my E4300 until my 1333MHz ones arrived, and the Windows Experience Index went up after I put in the new memory.
