I did a clean wipe and reinstall, and installed the new Feature Enhancement Pack (the one with the black interface instead of the blue one). Unfortunately, Fn-D to turn off the display no longer works, and it won't let me change hot keys like the old one did (e.g. I set Fn-W for hibernate, but now there is no window to customize the hotkeys). I can't find a download of the old Feature Enhancement Pack. Any advice?

    I am using an E6410 with a Core i5-520M / Nvidia NVS 3100M - 512MB. This laptop is on a dock with 2 monitors running Windows 7 x64.

I am looking for a stable Nvidia driver. The 285.62 driver frequently crashes so the screens go black as the driver restarts. That's actually an improvement from 259.22 which would frequently lock up the computer and I would be forced to do a hard crash and reboot.

The Dell site has a driver from October 20, 2010. Is this driver stable with dual monitors? Any recommendations for a Nvidia driver version that is stable? This same laptop used to run great until the IT guys did some driver updates so I don't think it is a hardware issue causing the recent problems I am having.

Update: Giving 260.99 a try today.

Well, I just updated to the newest drivers from Nvidia's website. I was getting frequent (2 or more times a day) crashing of the latest driver from Dell's site.
So far (after 6 hours), it seems like the drivers are stable. I will report back any issues.

Interesting, my WEI rating, the bottleneck of my system, went from 5.0 - with the latest Dell drivers to 4.9 with the latest Nvidia driver.

I was hoping that the old drivers would have been responsible for my lack of ability to reliably suspend. The newer ones seem to be no better. The first time I tried to resume from suspend, the system did not wake up.

When I think of how much I spent on this laptop, it makes me sick that, after 3 installs of Win 7, I still cannot get this thing to suspend.

I haven't had any issues with the E6410's that I prepared, so it's definately a configuration issue. What drivers and software do you have installed?

For me, all drivers are installed manually. The problem could be with running the setup, so try installing drivers manually (extract contents of EXE and browse for inf files in the Device Manager).

    NVIDIA DRIVERS 260.99 WHQL

My E6410 lasted an 8 hour shift today without a single crash while using the Nvidia 260.99 drivers. I used the Nvidia installer and selected the Delete old driver option. I have updated to bios A10.

I have an E6410 with integrated Intel HD Graphics. My O/S is WinXP Pro SP3.

The laptop is usually mounted in a Dell docking station connected to two 24" LCD monitors.

I am experiencing a problem where windows are not always being updated properly on the screens. Sometimes I will see black blocks appear when I minimize a window. Sometimes areas of the window will "freeze", while other sections in the window will move fine. Sometimes I will maximize a window up from the task bar, but the original window that would now be behind the new window is still the window that is being displayed. Sometimes, I will see portions of a window, like just the title bar.

I don't ever see problems with the display of my background wallpaper or the icons on the desktop - just with windows.

Also, I do occasionally see problems in the display when I am running the laptop on its own (no dock, and only the laptop LCD). It's all very weird.

Does anybody know what is going on?

    Thanks,

    AzJazz

FWIW my system has only been reliably stable *using* the 259.22 driver Dell provided, upgrading caused something like a white screen of death under normal use.

It'd be interesting to see if there are any common factors in software installed etc. with the people who have problems with the official driver vs. those with problems with the new driver.

In any case I hope people using Windows 7 are letting it automatically submit reports on crashes, with big customers like Dell and Nvidia someone will probably look at it eventually.
