The HDD should be compatible with no problems. I think the wireless card of the E6410 (and the E6400) is half-length, so you might have problems with that.

What is the monitor code for the display? Try reducing the brightness to about 75%. On the E6400 the maximum brightness result in reduced contrast but means that the display can be read in sunlight.

What I want to do is actually remove the wireless card that it comes with and put in my full length AR5B91. I was under the impression that the E6410 has a full length (optional) mini card slot near the half card (meaning it has the option for both mini or full length)? The E6400 did, but I'm not sure if they kept it around in the E6410. Please let me know.

    Hi John,

sure I know the issue with the full brightness. At the moment I have it at the 5. position from full (66% don`t know it for sure). The black and contrast is ok, what I meant are: the viewing angles. I know it`s only a TN panel, but it`s hard to find the optimal vertical position of the screen because it changes contrast really fast.

My old inspiron Panel (WSXGA+, Truelife) is a stupid glare panel and dark as hell, but it`s crisp and the viewing angles are – relative – good.

The Panel is an AUO (AUO4147).

Interesting, this means that they're using different WXGA+ panels. dezoris had an LGD0257.

I was considering the E6410 over the T410 because I was hoping that the display might be a tad better. But this makes it pretty much pointless because only very few sites like notebookcheck give proper evaluations of display quality and if you can't be sure which one you'll get, it's all lottery...

So can anyone confirm that the E6410 has a slot for half mini card as well as full minicard? The E6400 had both slots but I couldn't tell from the pictures if this one does too.

yeah..but also on the E6400 they used 3(?) different panels, LG, Samsung and AUO, or?

And I do not think that there are real (<5%) differences bitween the displays they are using. I also think that 14,1" 16:10 is an dying format and only proposed for „business” use with a not so special view on display quality.

The Screen is ok, I`ll learn to get used to it. I`m studying Graphic Design, so Display Quality is always an issue for me, but on the other side I`m studying t the Moment and my 24" TFT was also not so expensive.

Does anyone know what the mean turnaround time has been on these things from ordered->shipped? I know its different for every model and because of the volcano, but if I remember from last time, Dell usually undercuts their estimated times be a week or so.

Just wanted to let you know that there's a new touchpad driver available since May 3rd. It really upgrades the usability. I had a couple of problems before that the pointer didn't move like I wanted to, but now I set to sensitivity to high and it just behaves perfectly. And I noticed that that I have an ALPS Touchpad and not a Synaptics maybe that's why I couldn't get the scrolling in Ubuntu to work ;)
