Would WBF bring anything new to the table? It would be nice if the FPR could be used for more than just preboot and Windows logon.

I haven't found anything, it's also buggy when resuming from sleep (I get an error message saying the fingerprint scan wasn't good enough before I scan anything).

Having things like credentials storage (auto-login for websites, passwords) or removable Bitlocker drives work with the fingerprint scanner would be nice but it doesn't look like Windows 7 supports this.

I think that if you are using WBF, UPEK Protector Suite 2011 should work with it. I've been working on this since last night, and UPEK PS doesn't want to install because it detects some other biometric software. I'm probably going to re-image and try installing things in a different order.

Oh yeah, updated with last nvidia driver and enabled powermizer with nv gpu pro!! Many thanks!

It seems to be the definitive solution for the battery/performance tradeoff problem..

Just installed a Samsung 470 SSD and did a fresh install of Win7 Ultimate 32. A few questions:

    1) I have two yellow exclamation marks in Device Manager Under "Other Devices":
    A) Broadcom USH
    B) Unknown Device

    2) Does anyone know where I can download Dell Webcam Central?

    3) I set the Bios to "AHCI" prior to the install, but I did not install AHCI drivers. Is there anything I need to do post-install?

    4) Is there any value in installing the Dell Samsung SSD drivers?

Since I don't have any security devices, I decided not to install the DCP Manager software (I realize that I may have to do it to get rid of the UHC issue). I did install Control Point hoping it may help with one or both of the above issues. It did not.

I have a Windows Experience rating of 7.6 for this storage. I think this is pretty good, but would like some feedback regarding this. My boot time is about 40 seconds (including POST).

Thanks GKDesigns! I used your list to help with installing the required drivers in order.

1A) That is your security chipset. Even if no fingerprint or smartcard reader is installed, you still need to install the ControlVault framework/driver. Install this DRIVER and see if that helps.

1B) That is most likely your ST Micro freefall sensor. You can get the driver HERE.

    2) You should have access to the software if you register your system on the Dell site. You do need to be on the system and Dell needs to be able to read the service tag remotely to enable this. Alternatively, I have put the application you requested on my PRIVATE SERVER and will keep it there for a few days. After you install it under compatibility mode if using W7 64bit, I suggest starting the program and then migrating to the settings to look for the application update online. This will launch a Creative Systems web installer that will download the updated 64bit friendly version of the application and automatically update your existing install. Then you are done and good to go.

    3) You need to install the Intel Rapid Storage Technology driver if you want the system to be more reliable. Right now, you are using MS's generic/stock ACHI driver so all the SATA drives are not optimized. Install THIS DRIVER and then things should be faster on bootup once the drives are cycled.

    4) I would disregard that Samsung SSD firmware update if using the newer SATA-III Samsung 470 as it does not apply to that device.

    Thanks Scott!

    1) The The first two downloads helped. I no longer have any yellow in device manager.

    2) I have been using my Service Tag and am accessing the site from my laptop, but I still can't get access to the software. Regardless, I downloaded the file (thanks again) and am about to install it.

    3) I had already installed the Dell RST driver.

    4) The Samsung 470 (128gb) drive I have is actually SATA 2.

I really appreciate the fast response!

You are welcome. I stand corrected on the 470 SSD.
Regardless, you do not need that firmware update.

    Enjoy,
    Scott

The driver listed for E6410 on Dell website is for PM800 SSD which was the previous generation of Samsung SSDs. The one you have, Samsung 470-Series AKA PM810, is the latest generation which was introduced at the end of 2010. This is the SSD offered by Dell on their current lineup, E6420, E6520, etc; but it was never offered for E6410, thus the Dell driver shouldn't be used and probably won't work.

If your drive didn't come with the latest firmware, you can download the latest firmware directly from Samsung website here. The current version is AXM09B1Q.
I have to warn you, the process of updating the firmware on these SSDs are a little tricky. From what I remember, first you have to make a bootable USB flash drive then using Samsung Magician Software you have to load the new firmware on the flash drive, at the end you need to boot from USB and follow the instructions. Also note that you need to backup you data before updating the firmware because this process is destructive, meaning your SSD will be formatted during the process and you will lose all data!
