I installed the notebook release. After a fresh install, powermizer isn't enabled (according with powermizer manager) and the card switches from 135 to 600MHz in a very unconservative way in both ac or battery modes, stepping up many times and stepping down after long time of inactivity. This is the true origin of my power drain problem.

After enabling powermizer with nv gpu pro, gpu throttling is correct on battery and remain the same on ac (tested on 259.22). If I enable powermizer with powermizer manager (the only way I found for tweaking 275.33) the behaviour returns as previous said also on battery.

I have updated Nv GPU Pro to support the latest drivers, including the beta one... in fact, now it analyses the driver configuration, and sees if it's actually not compatible or not.. so it could support future versions (a little of Nv GPU Pro 2.2 beta in this new release).

When Nv GPU Pro shows an option disabled, it means that the option is not defined in the driver configuration, and therefore uses the drivers default behavior (which may or may not act as if the option(s) in question is enabled or disabled). This has been the case since 260 series drivers.

If you are patient, you can wait for my coming up software. I expect a beta version release later this summer. So you can do stuff, like forcing your GPU to minimum speed when on battery, even if you do flip 3D and a lot of window moving (assuming you are using Aero). And have the GPU go faster to normal speed, when you run something or/and the laptop is plugged in (it's flexible and has a lot of options and will have a long list of software and games in it, at the official release).

I was offering, via the forums, a prototype version of the software, which seamed quite successful among testers. Sadly, I am too "in" the development to even give you a working alpha version, as I changed core elements... maybe.. if you and I are lucky at the end of the month.

I have an e6410 running windows 7. I have a docking station that connects my external HD, printer, and 2nd monitor. Whenever I undock my computer, it is very slow to save files, open folders, and empty the recycle bin. Other performance in unaffected. This is a really annoying issue - does anyone have any advice for how to fix this issue. Any info is much appreciated.

I have a similar setup and have no issues. I did update the BIOS and made sure the chipset drivers were up to date. Make sure you have the correct Intel "Rapid Storage" driver installed as well since there is that eSATA port that is passed through the docking interface and if that is not correct, it could cause issues like you are experiencing. Lastly, I always unmount the eSata drive prior to undocking. This is done the same way as unmounting a flash drive in your menue by the clock at the bottom right of the task bar.

Yes. The same E6400 system board connection header is used.

Oh neat, looks like they updated the fingerprint system to the native Windows 7 one. I applied the firmware update (It's possible to do from Windows) and installed the UPEK update. Then a utility called "Control Vault WBF" let me enable the native support. Not sure about the smart card readers yet.
