Nope, hoping there will be when the 6430 fingerprint software is released for win8.

For ALPS, you can use the 6430 win8 drivers. Just disable gestures and enable side bar scroll in the options.

Thanks, had hoped there was a finger print solution but guess we just have to wait...

Regarding the mouse pad. It drives me CRAZY that every time (or very often to more precise) I swipe my finger on the mouse pad (to move the cursor) from right to left the right side bar and the clock box in the bottom left corner shows up. It is driving me NUTS, can it be disabled somehow?

yes, goto in the mouse options and disable geastures and click save. I had the same problem, i know exactly how frustrating it was until i disabled it.

I found I had to disable the "fast start up" option because my e6400 would freeze every time it is shut down. It also freezes anytime I try to hibernate the laptop, and occasionally when I put it to sleep.

When I say freeze, what I mean is that the screen turns off, but the fan keeps running and the scroll lock key stays on. If the keyboard backlight is enabled, then it will light up to key presses. I can leave it in this state for hours and it will never shut off. I have to then hold the power button for 5 seconds to get it to shut off.

This was also happening on Windows 7, so it's not solely a Windows 8 issue.Anyone else have this issue?

I have a feeling it might be related to the intel 520 ssd I have running. Anyone using an intel 520 in there e6400?

Just a thought... have any of you flashed the fingerprint scanner to become a standard Windows Biometric device instead of a Broadcom USH device? If so, does the built-in enrolling software in Windows work?

I'm fairly certain that I did that firmware update (i did several controvault firmware flashes over the summer months) and no change. Also, it doesn't seem possible to flash the firmware from windows 8 (at least it keeps failing for me)
