Yeah, the TPM is enabled, I'm using it for BitLocker. Like I said, it just gives an error during enrollment (after reading a set of fingerprints, which I can see working). I've done a fair amount of checking on this; no problem getting it working on a clean Windows 7 install but following the same procedure on a clean Windows 8 install yields these results.

The problem may not be the driver itself but Broadcom's helper app that does the enrollment.

Also worth noting that Dell is probably aware of this; they've posted all of the other Windows 8 drivers for this machine but left out the fingerprint reader, and if you're buying a new one, the online configurator will not let you put the fingerprint reader and Windows 8 together.

Again, this is the M6700 and not the E6400. However, since they all use the Broadcom / Dell ControlPoint stuff, I imagine the issues will be similar.

Thanks. I'm going to try those along with the suggestion below to check TPM. I know I had a similar problem with Windows 7 and one of those things where I know I had to do something funky to point it to the right driver. thanks again for taking the time to make those available.

Hello friends, I have recently clean installed windows 8 on my dell latitude e6400. WIFI is not working with windows 7 drivers. I have uninstalled the network drivers and now stuck with no drivers. Tried to reinstall windows 7 network drivers,- failed, tried to install network drivers for different models -failed. Can anyone please suggest what are the options available for me . I will be thankful for your suggestions. Thank you

What wireless card do you have? Intel or Dell?

newest Intel drivers can be pulled from "station drivers " website

    Thanks for the help,
    But I got these problems:
    1. Can't install Dell control point
    2. Graphics card has problem, takes long time to shutdown and i get these error while working, "Display driver stopped responding and has recovered" Display driver Nvidia windows kernel mode driver version 302.86. I got this laptop with nvidia quadro nvs160m. Installed the windows 7 x64 driver from Dell.
    Version is 8.16.11.8992

Tried driver from nvidia website too.

    3. wireless intel 5300 got problem too, switching between the wifi access points, crashes the wifi card and need to restart to make it work again.

How to make the short cut keys like fn+D which will switch off the display to work. I guess, its related with the dell control point

    Thanks in advance.

    don't install control point.

install dell feature enhancement pack 2.2.1.

Drivers and Downloads | Dell [United States]

I have no problems with intel 5300. My driver version is 14.2.1.3

I also have no problem with the nvidia drivers. Use these ones 310.34:

    NVIDIA DRIVERS 310.34BETA

Installed Win8, had problems with the mouse pad but found the APLS driver somewhere, now only the "Broadcom USH w/swipe sensor" support is missing. Is there a fully functioning driver and software to control enrolment etc.?
