E6320

Thanks that is good to know I was waiting for a 13" XPS notebook but that doesn't seem to be happening so I think I will order this one.

don't forgett about that drive-bay-battery Dell is offering. Here it's around 100€ for something you can place in the optical drive bay containing a 3cell battery!
Very nice idea.
Yesterday I had a E6320 in my hands and I have to say that I was impressed.
The build quality is really great. Better than my e4200 I had before.

Now I configured mine but there is one thing I'm a little worried about:
Since I'm not paying myself (company notebook) and we are getting great discount I ordered 8GB RAM the i7 option.

Do you think these parts will drain more battery than a config with less RAM and an i5? The i7 seems to be a higher clocked dualcore, so will there be a significant difference in battery time?

 

Can anyone compare the E4300/E4310 to the E6320?

 

I've been kind of surprised at the lack of reviews and information from folks who have this model so far.

I'm wondering if means they have been hard to get, or if people are avoiding them for some reason.

I have one sitting my office, waiting for me to return from traveling. Interested to see what I find.

Any other reviews out there? When ill get mine ill might write some lines

 

Oh I've seen lots of in depth reviews for other Latitude models - including tear downs, comparisons, etc. I have used these reviews in the past to inform buying decisions for my organization.

Some off them I have found on this very forum.

Just as another observation, most other models have "owner's" threads - even other new models like the e6420 and e6520 - but no such thread for the e6320

 

Hm, since there's no owner-thread I suggest it is not selling too good.
Here, in germany you can buy it already and I've seen one in our IT department.
The guy there said that he hates the design, but the quality is hilarious. He's some sort of a hardware prophet so I trust in his knowledge.
Well, mine will be there soon and I'll try to do something like an review.

 

I'll be getting one to compare to my E4300 in the next month or so.

 

Could those E6320 owners that don't suffer from the E6420's corner popping issue open the bottom panel and check that no double-sided tape is used as a "fix"?

Finally got back to the office and opened my E6320 box. First impression was good. Strikes me as nice looking, well built, but a little heavy. I immediately could tell it had a bit more heft to it than the 4300's I am used to.

The orange outline around the keyboard seems a bit out of place to me. An odd, meaningless addition if you ask me... but nothing that I wouldn't learn to ignore.

After using it for a few days I was neither overly impressed, or disappointed. The touchpad seemed typical Dell to me - but I don't quit understand the additional buttons above the touchpad. They were useless for me at best, got in the way at worst.

Keyboard was nice, better than previous models in my opinion.

The screen was a little dull, in terms of brightness, when compared to a 4300 we had in the office. We put a 4300 next to a 4310 and this 6320 and the 4300 had by far the nicest, brightest screen of the bunch. The 6320 and 4310 were similar. In fact, the employee with the 4300 was due to get this 6320, and she refused based on the screen.

So I'll be using it for a little while here and will post more thoughts as I have them.

Oh, btw, I just got my new copy of wired, they gave this model their editor's choice.
