Dell cannot control the branding of part replacements. So no.

OK, my LCD is SEC5442. I assumed it is Samsung.

    1. Can somebody tell me where the flaw is? I haven't played around with the brightness, but it looks normal (nothing's good, nothing's bad).
    2. Also please tell me what to expect from good LCD with backlit LED so I know what's wrong with Sammy LCD.

    1) if you see nothing wrong, you've got a good display, don't search for faults you don't see in the end you find them ;)

Hmm. The more I use the E6400 the more I like this screen.

The Samsung doesn't seem that bad at all. It isn't the screen in my father's SZ, but that can't get bright enough to use in a well-lit room, let alone outside.

If I remember what I read about the D-series correctly, this is still a far better screen in all aspects.

You got the good screen. I have the same.

I looked for flaws intensively and failed.

    Enjoy it :)

Those with E6400's or M2400's, post the complete model number of your LCD.

Mine is a SEC5442. It doesn't seem as bad as the screens you guys have.

Well, I think the SEC screen is not very good - but I am comparing it to other LED screens I have seen.

If you aren't comparing it to anything else, then I guess the screen would look ok. But, if you have seen other LED screens, you would understand that the contrast is poor and the colors are way off.

If you like it - more power to you.. I am not impressed, that's all:)

Now, if Dell would get their $hit together and release the RGB LED for the M4400, now were talking. That paired with the QX9300 is my dream machine!

Well, I'm comparing it to the LCD of a glossy Vaio SZ4, a glossy XPS m140 (630m). The SZ has better contrast and color, but it doesn't seem all that significant to me. It seems that it is a lot warmer tone, to the point of being yellowish. This display is a bit bluish.

I'm impressed that the screen is 100% grain free, unlike the m140, which has a slight bit of grain. This display is probably on par with the m140 display, but is brighter, grain-free, and matte (which would likely mask bad contrast on the XPS).

I'm just curious if there is only one SEC screen, or if there is more than one. That is why I asked for the full model number of the screen. Mine is the same as those who have the good 15.4" Samsung screen.

Well, mine is the same SEC5442 as yours and I think it is worse than the m1330 screen I had (back in September of last year - If I remember correctly it was a Toshiba LED screen).

And the Xbrite LED screens by Sony blows this one away (it's not even close, IMO).

Oh, well... Still waiting for the RGB LED:)
