Man, I was hoping for the LG LED screen because everyone was raving about it. Mine just arrived today with the SEC (Sammy) LED screen and, while it is EXTREMELY brite, it is pretty washed out.

Anyone else have this screen? Just want to know if it is me being picky or not:)

The LED screen for the 6400 only comes in one resolution -- 1440 x 900.

My friend has a E6400 LED 1440*900 and it was very bright but contrast was poor. Photos looked unrealistic. I'm not sure which one he has.

Notebookjournal measured the contrast of the E6400 LED to be 167:1. Pretty poor in comparison to screens like Sony Z or Apple MBP.

Yeah, I'm thinking of returning the Dell and getting a Sony Z. It's about the same price as an e4300, only it has the premium materials (carbon fiber and aluminum) AND you will always get a flawless LCD when you buy a Sony (unlike the Dell crap shoot).

The only way you get a great screen for sure through Dell is to get a 17" XPS. I have had every one since the Gen 2 and everytime the screen is fabulous.

    Oh well.....

And my backlit keyboard doesn't light up. Not really a bid deal, they are sending a new one to me to swap out with next day shipping.

That's one thing I will def miss if I get a sony - Dell's excellent support:)

Try calibrating the screen using Monitor Calibration Wizard, the Adobe utility, or something else.. Generally helps..

absolutely concur. this was my first observation on the M2400 1440x900 LED LCD. the brightness has improved over the LCD on my 3-year old D410, but the color contrast (or more probably the color gamut) is really lacking. windows as an OS looks fine on it, but the moment u look at photos, they are washed out, and dull.

hideous even if you put a decent LCD monitor or a middle to top of the line sony vaio notebook next to it.

my LED LCD hardware string starts with LPL ... from what i've read thats the LG/Philips screen.
