Currently the Vostro 1500 as well as all other Dell DDR2 and "upgradable"/removable cards are not affected by the nvidia bug according to Dell. Only solderd ddr3 models are currently being sited as affected.

That thread is basically an example of the Nvidia cheap out. More info here http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=277510

    Just returned from flashing...

I also noticed that the batterie led on the notebook blinks red when its getting really hot! does this mean that the battery is suffering? because it stops when I take the battery out :/

It sounds as if it could be a power issue causing the heat and possibly not charging the battery. As you have had the notebook for almost a year I would call Dell up ASAP to try and get them to take a look at it. This is obviously not normal.

Just getting a air canister and blowing into the vent on the bottom towards the exhaust vent should work just fine. Try this first.

Well even after setting the fan to max and undervolting, the game starts to stutter after 10-30 minutes..

I guess its either the hot weather here lately or my notebook is just not a gamer book anymore..:(

Have you ever played that game before on the notebook without issue? If so then I would consider your notebook for sending back if possible.

Yeah! I could play it for hours!, its kinda hot here now - dont wanna leave out any facts... around 28C° and I got this notebook during winter time, do you think that this has anything to do with my heat issues? Or should a notebook always be equaly cool, no matter how warm the room is?

My Vostro 1500 also heats up sometimes and the graphics card throttles down. When this happens the frame rate drops and game becomes choppy, just like you describe. (my 8600M-GT is overclocked to 650/500). To avoid this, I lift the back side of the laptop by inserting something like the edge of a book under the battery. This allows better airflow into the laptop and reduce the temperature. A notebook cooler pad can help better than this. By the way, I have replaced the thermal interface of both CPU and GPU with Tuniq TX-2, this also helped a little.
