Dell Precision M6700 Owners Thread

FYI, I made sure I had a good complete backup then I tried the BIOS update to A02 - no problems.

 

An interesting and obvious omission by Dell. And surprising that there's zero collaboration with any dedicated speaker manufacture?

On the other hand, I suppose that's not their target market. Although those of us that are interested in this machine for media creation might beg to differ. Nevertheless, its hardly a deal breaker--although it would have been icing on the cake.

 

Hey m6700 covet owners, I got a few question I want to ask.

1.Is the m6700 covet screen as glossy as the consumer laptop screens?

2.Will the amd firepro M6000 and the Quadro (k4000m and K3000) be available for the m6700 covet?

3.Why did dell choose Phoenix red instead of the blood orange color(m6500) for the m6700 covet?

 

The built in speakers and microphones are aimed more at videoconferencing. There is built in noise cancelling so you don't have any echos or feedback.

Anything that sounds good with the spoken voice will sound the best on the internal speakers. Video with voice-over is loud enough for conference rooms and smaller meeting rooms. Movies on Netflix are fine as well, but you are limited in the amount of bass.

I have spent some time monitoring video feeds on the M6700 with Etymotic HF3 and Shure ES425 headphones. They sounded fine through the headphone jack and there was no obvious noise or distortion, but I have not done any critical listening to music on it yet.

 

Hadn't planned on it. The only video-capable device I own is an iPhone 4S, and I rarely use it for that. Plus Bokeh's review has better pictures that I could ever take.

EDIT: My M6700 has shipped. Ordered 8/17, shipped 8/24, delivery by 8/29. Guess I need to order RAM and SSD. Dang, I had hoped that the Plextor M5 Pro would be available by now.

 

I dont Know if it's because I ordered a covet but everyone seems to be getting their m6700s and mine has a delay for some reason, it was supposed to be delivered yesterday but it's still in production. Has anyone else who ordered a covet been experiencing the same delay? The woman that I called at dell told me that she will take matters into her own hands and take care of it for me and she was very nice but it sucks that I have to keep on waiting even more! Congrats on everyone who has received theirs! Hope you all enjoy

I don't know, but when you get it could you make a unboxing video, and post it here?
