My second try has arrived, this time with no screw rolling around.

Where do you find the specifications about the monitor? Even everest only shows "pnp-monitor"; It looks good, but because there's a different SSD in it than promised, I'm wary.

    Looking at the specs with everest, I find a Liteonit LCT 512 M3S; The vendor had promised a Samsung SSD. Is the Litenonit a good one? Can't find anything on the net;

    Thanks!

Can a senior member on this board/forum vouch for the legitimacy of my Dell M6700 Covet( Brand New) and help me post it for sale? I would rather pass along a very well specced Laptop and the savings to someone on this board rather than Ebay/Craiglist. I would provide whatever they need to verify my identity, etc. The new rules changes to 100 posts and I would sell it to someone that can appreciate it here.

I have done this before on car forums selling much more expensive items. I just received the Dell M6700 Covet. My needs have changed for a laptop.

If this is against forum rules or needs to be private to discuss please let me know. I apologize in advance.

Specs from the link make it look faster than the 512mb Crucial that I have.

Has Samsung sorted out their Firmware issues yet?

I know, and they are already on my harddisk

But none of the COVET version ....:(

I'd like to see an owner-photo of that COVET laptop.
    Not a photoshopped DELL-photo ! ;)

So, if anyone can post a pic ?
I will also do when mine will arrive.

I am a little confused about the COVET picture. Has no one posted pictures yet of the Covet? Sorry I didn't read the entire thread ;)

Anandtech has posted a rather brutal review of the M6700 today. It seems like the reviewer missed the point by not targeting the review for the type of customer who would buy this machine.

The review was ridiculous. Any glimmer of positivity was immediately countered with an unfounded comment about how the HP was better. It sure seemed biased heavily towards HP, seems like a tainted review.
It seems like HP and Intel must be buying vacations for the Anand staff as of late (or dell must have refused to do so).
Most of the criticisms were blatantly unfounded speaking from the perspective a day to day M6700 user.

I think the truth is that they are trying to get a covet sample to review :p

AnandTech seems to have good info about the Samsung 840/840 Pro SSDs. (I already have one 256 GB 840 Pro in use and I just received one 512 GB 840 Pro when I realized both how much I like the 840 Pro and how little space I had left on my 256 GB version after installing some of my industry software and data files. I have not put the 512 GB in yet. I have various reasons for wanting to do this, but if possible while being gentle on me, could users comment on my current idea of putting the 840 Pro 512 GB in the primary storage bay and the 840 Pro 256 GB in the secondary storage bay?) Anyway, back to the Firmware issues:

Samsung claims only the review/test units had the firmware problems and all retail units shipped with the problems fixed:
Update on Samsung SSD 840/840 Pro Failures

    And in more detail:

Samsung Explains The Firmware Bug Causing The Failures of SSD 840/840 Pro

    P. S. - So even though Samsung has indeeed sorted out the (really bad) firmware issue(s) [allegedly for all retail units shipped], Samsung added a firmware update (version 1.0) to the Samsung 840 Pro support webpages on 12/13/12 to improve "write performance" - which was already excellent according to many sources, though still a bit behind the read performance and the spec projected write performance.

thanks for the link. I wasn't wondering about speed in the first place, but about security; My idea is to get a second 512 SSD anyway for a raid-system.

Something different - I had found this in this thread: "The legitimate sources that I trust report that the M6700 is designed to make use of 32 GB of 1600 RAM and only 16 GB of 1866 RAM."

Is there any proof about this meanwhile?

I'm very grateful for this support,

    Aki
