Which graphics card do you have?

NVIDIA -- If Optimus is on, you can have four displays --- system LCD and VGA will be driven by the Intel GPU, and the HDMI and DisplayPort displays will be driven by the NVIDIA GPU. If Optimus is off, I'm not sure what the limitations are. I'm running the built-in display + HDMI + DisplayPort with no trouble, I imagine you could swap the built-in display for VGA, haven't tried all four at once with Optimus off.

AMD -- Yes, ONLY if you disable the built-in LCD. Looks like the monitor configuration possibilities are the same as with the M4600/M6600 --- only two displays can be non-DisplayPort, so to have more than 3 (including internal) you need a dock.

Does any one else have problems with the finger print reader? Sometimes when authentication fails by swiping my finger, it asks me for a password but it doesnt accept my password when i enter it and oddly the password is not hidden when i type it. The only way around it is to restart the computer and enter the password without using the finger print reader. Very annoying.

P.S : I purchased 4 x 8 GB Corsair Vengence memory and it worked flawlessly. Not sure why some are reporting problems.

You can do internal + 3 external with optimus disabled. You may have to have an E-Port Plus Dock to do it. Never tried the DP, HDMI, and VGA on the machine itself.

is there anything to consider when I want buy nvidia or ati card, if the performance is no big deal for me? I am a 2D designer, most of the programs are not driven by the GPU card, no games. But I need 3 monitor support (as I know both ati/nv can do this) with a proper color management. Optimus will be disabled, most time the laptop will be in a dock. So multimonitor support is the key, with proper color management (each monitor driven exclusively, etc.). If everything is the same, than maybe the power consuption would be a criteria. Thanks

Ok, so since it was asked here, the Dell tech i spoke to screwed up. The Heatsink on the non extreme core i7s has only one heatpipe so it is different form the xm CPU heatsink. I can post pictures if anyone is interested. I had to do a close to full disassembly because the metal part above the latch for the display assembly was a little bent. No need to call Dell to fix that, just remove the palm rest and make it straight again. Aside form that, the laptop arrived in pristine condition.
