So I order a 3D cable (DC02C002D00 6VCJW) and a 4k screen (Innolux N173DSE-G31, because I get it cheaper), but you could also use 1440p120hz or 1080p144hz display, they demand less video bandwith than 4k but your mileage may vary :)
At first I wanted to use the Sharp LQ173D1JW33 which is the best 4k 17.3" lcd but I got the Innolux for less than half the price of the sharp, you can look right here "compatible" lcd (your milage may vary) : http://www.panelook.com/sizmodlist.php?st=&pl=&sizes[]=1730&signal_type_category=70
you need to be carefull about the number of pin the lcd have, the 3D cable is a "40 pin eDP"
    :)

After almost exactly seven years of daily use, the display hinge broke this evening. It seemed to be jammed and broke off when I tried to open the laptop. I can't see any reason why it would have been stuck. I'm thinking that it just wore out and the metal bit inside got to the point where it would rather snap than move.

I guess stuff happens to old machines. :p Ordered a replacement display assembly already, will install this weekend; hopefully it is less "used" than mine and will last another two years or so until I upgrade to a new 7760...

Received the replacement display assembly in the mail. Took the whole system apart to install it. Realized late in the process that they actually shipped me a M4800 display assembly. No way that it will fit, obviously. Grr. Would have saved myself a lot of trouble if I had verified the size at the beginning.

Next cheapest one that I could find on eBay is over double the price :-\

If I was you I will only change the hinge, or maybe both but it's easy and cheap to replace :)

Indeed, I actually removed the broken hinge while I had the system apart yesterday (so there is a nice little hole there now). When I get the new assembly I will probably just swap the hinge. I want to go ahead and get a whole assembly though in case I ever need to replace the other hinge or another part (plus I didn't see anywhere I could buy just a hinge on its own).

    [Edit]
Found a listing for just the back panel (including hinges) for $20, going for that one. More waiting...

Unlike the other ports which are all connected to the dGPU all of the time, the VGA output is connected to the same as the internal display, so iGPU if Optimus is enabled.

I have to give my experience about my failed attempt to install the GTX 980M, as i posted here i tried with every .inf I saw and even some people send me their own mods, but it never worked. As someone suggested that i should return it even the seller had on descriptions not returns accepted, i did it.

What i was expecting it could be an easy return it wasn't... Although seller agreed the return, it becames a nightmare... I returned it as i live outside United States, it was going to take a while to return it, even the seller is located at Miami, it was a painful. First the item took is 15 days to arrive, i was aware of time so nothing wrong, but then i saw like 5 days at custom stuck, and then i begin that something was wrong... It took 6 days since there to arrive to Miami and then i got stuck on "Arrival on USPS Miami", it were like 16 days and even i contacted the seller when it was on Miami he never responded.

I was in shock because it was a lot of money right there, almost 260 and he never replied me, seeing that there was a month and the tracking number was stuck, again i contacted him, and guess what he received the card, and was arguing that it was with a lot of thermal paste on it and that i removed the Clevo property copper, and he made an arrangement with eBay. Then i get very mad and i wrote him if he didn't know that Clevo uses propertary copper and i had to remove it in order to install on my laptop, as the copper makes the card thick and the heatsink couldn't be placed correctly, and he could Google GTX 980M Clevo on other laptops, also i told him card was working but it never installed drivers correctly, he just seems that block me on the option to respond my messages regarding that card.

eBay already sent me the email asking if i received my refund and it was going to be escalated. It took 5 days and they declined the refund. At that moment i wasn't aware that he already had the GPU, and i was thinking that it went lost, as it could happen sometimes, as tracking information is not updated on USPS. Even i wrote that on the case that he should have already the card. Then i was going to oppen a dispute on Paypal and as i lost the case, even i called my bank asking if they could do something, but they said eBay should handle that.

I went to the postal office and they told me that the item was delivered... but it was labeled as prohibited, i was like wtf, something i didn't know because tracking number got stuck at Miami.

There is an option on eBay to appeal, but it was like the case was closed and i couldn't do nothing.
And then i had to call from my country to United States, as i don't speak very fluent English it was a little frustating for me to comunicate. A lady took my call and i tried to explain my appeal considering that he received the card and he was dishonest and liar and even i told her that how can he argue that something used couldn't be sold as used? It was never new and worst he already have my money and would make twice the same amount or close? I took an hour with the lady on the phone, and then she finally added that part on the case considering it was unfair the behaviour of the seller, and finally they give me my refund including shipping cost. I told the lady that i was aware that i might not receive a full refund at all but that his manner was very rude. Even before all of this i open a thread on eBay user forums, and one of the users wrote that he might now who was the seller, and why he was ghosting me, because he has a 19 years of good reputation, but he was being clearly a jerk.

What a painful way wo recover money, not so much i ended the call i received the email notification, explaining that they reissued the case and they give me refund, considering that the seller agreed to refund the money but he never didn't do it.

Hope nobody here goes on the same frustation, i ended getting an R9 M290x aka 8970M but i don't know if its really an 8970M ,funny it was just plug and play but for now laptop is turning off i guess i have been not applying correctly the termal pads and thermal paste, but i am waiting another board as the one i have the previous user seems that was very rude and broke the clasps of the keyboard and the mouse.

You cannot use an AMD gpu with a Nvidia heatsink on the M6700, they are different.
Sadly for you, the R9 M290x is far inferior to that 980M, it barely catch a low end GTX965M :/

Yes I know I ordered the AMD heatsink which is somehow equal to the Nvidia? I double check and they are equal and of course I know AMD is inferior but well also way cheaper too, at least it's on pair with the RX 460 I have. And well I wish AMD would launch a good card but as far I have seen the R9 M390x it's just a rebrand as they have been doing
