It seems IPS and 3D screen are both using eDP connector. IPS has thicker LCD case, how about 3D is it using thick or normal case? I need to convert existing LVDS connection to eDP.

Hello everybody. I'm new to the forum.
    Introduction:
    I have a Dell Presicion M6700with the following settings: i7-3920xm, 32GB RAM, 1TB-msata / 500 GB SSD, Nvidia Quadro K5100m 8GB and a Touchscreen.
The machine works fantastic. I use 3 Displays (1920x1200) connected to the docking, 2 with the Quadro Graphic and 1 with the intel HD4000 Graphic (wich powers also the Laptop Display). The best is the graphics power (8GB), because I use Autodesk Alias. I had to use a modified Driver to make the K5100m work.
The Touchscreen Display is crap compared with the HP 8770w Dreamcolor Display.

    Questions:
1- I'm a creative designer, and I use Photoshop, but it does not work with the Touchscreen, but in works fine in the Wacon Cintiq 24 connected to the Laptop. Is this a drivers problem or Adobe Photoshop incompatibility? With Autodesk Sketchbook it works well.
2- I would like to use my Laptop on the way (as a Wacom MobileStudio Pro or a Wacom Companion), but I can not find a compatible Stylus. I have already tested with the Wacom Bamboo Fineline 2 and the Wacom Bamboo Smart, but they don't work.
I've seen on an ad on ebay that the Dell XT3 stylus could be compatible. I need a fine point and pressure sensitivity to make sketches.
Does anyone know which is the best Stylus compatible with the dell M6700?

    Thanks for the feedback!

Ok here I have some benchmarks and specs from a few cards on my m6700

the m5000m seems around 20% faster than the m4000m. The m4000m around 50% faster than the m3000m. Though is only uses 75w so that is to be expected I guess. Interestingly the m4000m runs hotter than the m5000m but I guess thats because has higher clock speed.

Also here is a comparison of gtx card vs the quadros maxwell cards.
    By msi.
    https://www.msi.com/blog/do-you-know-new-nvidia-quadro-graphics-play-games-as-good-as-gtx-graphics

As you can tell the quadros card can finally game as good or in some cases better than there gtx counterparts. I also think they run cooler.

Also selling my old m4000m if anyone interested.

    Hi all,

FYI: DELL is replacing my M6700 with a Precision 7720. I'm still negotiating about equipment (especially since the 7720 doesn't have an optical drive and can't have 4k-display + broadband).
So far they offered me a Quadro M1200 as replacement for my Quadro K5000 which I declined. They raised to Quadro P3000 but won't go higher. I am not sure if this is a good deal (and if I should push for a Quadro P4000).
Anyway - I will buy an upgrade to Quadro P5000 afterwards :)

    Cheers,
    Alex

It has a slightly higher max clock, but lower boost clocks so I don't think that's the reason. Perhaps it's due to the difference between thermal paste used or installation?

Compared to the K5000M, the P3000 is about 90% faster — nearly double the performance. This is computed simply based on the difference between clock speed and core count, it might be even faster still if they have made the individual cores more efficient. (The M1200 is actually a little bit slower so you were right to reject it.)

    Hi,

After further negotiation (and complaining on my side that the 7720 doesn't have an optical drive etc.) they raised to P4000 (which -I think- is a good deal). Now I am going to buy the upgrade to Quadro P5000...

    Cheers,
    Alex

Just snapped up a Quadro M5000M off of eBay, saw a good deal and hopped on it. (I had an alert set up to notify me if one ever popped up below a certain price threshold...) It's a Dell card as well with X-bracket included, so it should be relatively easy to install and hopefully won't require any driver INF modding to work.

I'll be replacing the Quadro K5000M that I already have and selling that one.

It should arrive around Wednesday, I'm planning to snap some pictures during installation, so I'll post back with the details and results next week.
