    Hi

Is there a genaral issue with samsung evo 840?

I have three evo 840 with 750GB and the latest firmware fix EXT0CB6Q wich fixed the performance degration of "old files".
As boot device I use the mSata 120GB from DELL.

    The problem:
The first evo (in primary HD-Slot) was not recognised by BIOS sometimes! The second was OK and the third in DVD bay was also OK.
I replaced the primary SSD two times with the other evos. But the problem remains.

Sometimes the primary evo works with SATA-II speed (240GB/s) and seldom the primary works with SATA III speed (500GB/s).
The second evo works every time with SATA-III speed.

I can't imagine that all three evos are buggy.

    Does anyone have this problem?
Are evo 840 a supported option on M6700.

    Thanks

I have no issues with my Samsung 840 EVOs, SATA and mSATA, I've left my original 750GB HDD in the primary slot though, so I can't tell you about using the SSD on that port/slot.

Did you flash the latest BIOS version (Currently A13) on your M6700?

People beware, this BIOS may have the same UEFI network stack bug as those already reported on M4800 and E6540.
If you have ‘UEFI network stack’ enabled in BIOS settings, you will sooner or later reach for coin-cell battery… Please see other Dell threads for further info.

The motehrboard was replaced and now all works fine:

    1TB Bench

While installing the new motherboard, the technican also enabled the out of band management, which I had forgotten to order :D

    No, it isn't a typo.

    Port/Bus 0: 750GB SATA HDD
    Port/Bus 1: 1TB SATA SSD
    Port/Bus 2: 1TB mSATA SSD

But you know that the mSata ports only run with 3Gbit/s (SATA II)?

Yes, I do, it's not a big issue to me.
