Could be that Bluetooth is put into sleep mode to save power, so check your power management profile.

Also, have you tried switching the Bluetooth radio off and back on?

I had something similar on my Dell M6400. It wouldn't see my phone if I search for it and if I tried to access it through Devices (as in, previously added phone), it couldn't connect to it (because it wouldn't see it). Sometimes turning it on/off via the wireless switch would help. But even when it did start to work, after I disconnected it and tried to connect again, it wouldn't work. It was a Dell 410 UWB module (with Wireless USB integrated). And it worked like this since day one, but I didn't really needed the Bluetooth in the first three years so it started to bother me only recently. In the end, I just bought a used Dell 370 module from ebay and replaced it and this one has worked like a charm. (Though, now I have Dell M6700, but I still kept the M6400 as a backup - I'd hate to sell it for next to nothing and it's working perfectly well, besides the fact that the GPU is becoming too weak for my gaming breaks. IF the GPU was upgradeable, I wouldn't have upgraded to M6700; although, actually, I also got a used M7820 card from an M6500 that I'll try to install into it just for fun and lower TDP when I get my hands on it; my friend told me he received it in some damaged packaging so I hope it wasn't broken in transport).

So, long story short, perhaps your Bluetooth card/module is defective.

I'm currently on high performance or whatever the max setting is for power management so that can't be it. And if the Bluetooth is defective wouldn't that mean it wouldn't work at all? If I sleep the computer the Bluetooth will continue to work. Only if I restart or shutdown do I have to reinstall drivers.

Funny thing is I also tried downloading the broad com driver from the main site and it couldnt detect my Bluetooth chip.

Did you get the 840 or the 840pro. I have been debating on upgrading the 256ssd that came with machine. I am not sure of the pro is worth the price over the 840.

    thanks,

    Mike

In benchmarks the pro will be faster. In real world performance I'd be surprised if you can tell a noticeable difference.

All choices are a trade off. Pro has 5 Yr. Warranty vs. 3 for non-Pro. Pro has 256 AES encryption vs. none for non-Pro. Non-Pro is fairly new tech of packing more stuff into cells which will reduce its longevity. At a ~$140 price difference (~500GB) it really boils down to usage expectations and cost, some of which can't be fully determined right away.

That did not do the trick.

Still having the window priority problem.

I remember you having this problem awhile back.
Did you fully uninstall the Premier Color and NVidia drivers/Apps before reinstalling NVidia then Premier Color?

This sounds like an application issue. The client system update thing, in my opinion, is best used by advanced IT people. Troubleshooting things like this is easier for them because they have a faster better feedback loop amongst themselves. Try not using it - and especially don't let it do things on auto-pilot.

    Edit:

Not exactly sure what you want to accomplish. Want to have window transparency where? Using Premier Color on an IPS screen? Does it affect everything or just a particular program when running?

I'm not trying to just ask 20 questions - but we're short on some details about, just about everything. OS, Hardware, Config Settings, Software etc.

    I got the regular 840.

I'm sure the difference between a regular HDD and the 840 will be much greater than the difference between the 840 and 840 Pro. So, not willing to put the extra cash on that at this point, like you say, not worth it.

Warranty? Doubt I'll keep the drive for a whole three years. The way SSDs are going, there will be much better yet very affordable options around by then. Encryption? I use BitLocker so not worried about drive-level AES.

I'm also aware that some people are complaining that the 840 may not last as long as the 840 Pro due to less write cycles before the flash cells wear out. I ran some numbers though and it looks like you could write a few 10's of GBs per day (way more than I plan on writing) --- for a few years before you begin to run into trouble. I still have a 1 TB HDD for storage and if I need to do mega data things like video authoring, it'll happen there.

Drive will be here tomorrow. Going to install immediately. Will let you know if there are any surprises.

M6700/K4000/IPS/PremierColor -- nothing fancy, no changes from stock.

For instance with Google Chrome open & other apps open like notepad .... clicking on a program icon in the taskbar that's open but behind Chrome does no bring it into view. I have to minimize Chrome (in this instance) to see the window behind it.

I installed the nVidia driver through Dell as prescribed. I did not see a recommendation to uninstall the current driver. Regardless, nothing changed.

PremierColor driver update would not install with the "wrong hardware" error. Thanks.
