I have the M6700 Covet Running Win 8 Pro. I have the SSD LITEONIT LCM-256M3S 256 GB drive that came with it. Often when i go into a folder using windows explorer, it takes several seconds for the contents to display. Is this normal or should the contents of the folder display right away (sometimes I have to hit F5)? Sometimes I actually see the bar on when it is loading the contents of the folder?

Would a Samsung 840 be better? Or will the same happen?

    thanks,

    Mike

I don't have this issue in Windows 8 (and I'm not even using a SSD).

In the past when I've had problems like this, I've been able to track it down to some other piece of software hooking into Windows Explorer as a shell extension, and causing a delay. Shell extensions handle pulling in extra bits information about your files, generating thumbnails, context menu options, among other things, and a lot of apps stuff them in. Sometimes a poorly written extension can cause an unreasonable delay. ShellExView will show you the shell extensions that are loaded and allow you to disable them individually, but it's a little cryptic and there's not a good way to tell which (if any) is causing the problem besides plain old trial and error.

Thanks. I will take a look. Also, I have been running in the balanced power profile. I just switch to high performance and the few times I went into the folders everything pops up right away. I wonder if it is a power profile item or something else. Or indeed a shell extension issue. I will keep it in high performance and see if the issue pops up.

    thanks,

    Mike

Due to the nature of my work I keep mine in HP mode. In that setting everything pops up instantly.

Curious, do you have the k5000m for maximum gaming capability? That's a pretty serious card.
Actually, the communication on this has been confusing. I read 4 max. But either way, that's max # including the unit display. Right?

I had a M6500 Covet maxed out and they replaced it with the M6700 Covet Maxed out. If I bought new, I probably would have maxed it out anyway. I do not do any games.

So far in high performance seems to be fine. But I also use a third party software for a local cloud with egnyte. They had a setting to show check mark on folder icons when synched. I turned that option off so it might be that instead of HP mode. If this keeps running fine, I will try balanced again.

That's exactly the sort of thing that could cause this issue.

(FWIW, I run in "Balanced" mode all of the time except when I am gaming or doing something particularly CPU or GPU intensive. Prefer to keep temps and power use down a little.)

A question about the eyefinity equivalent on nvidia cards, I assume the quadro can support it also. But does surround gaming require 3 monitors of the same resolution? Or can one monitor be 2560x1080 and a second one 1920x1200 with a third at 1920x1080?

Does anyone own the model with the K4000M?
I got a nice offer and wondering if I could play some games (maybe with reduced details) on it?

    I play F1 2013 & DiRT 3 on my Quadro K3000m at full resolution, medium detail 4 MSAA. V-Sync at 60fps.

Means it should be possible with the K4000M as well :)
I guess it is comparable to the 675M, right?
