I've done quite some things, but it's very complicated to list up the whole configuration ... and my idea is that if it's a configuration-Problem the error should occur each time when I try to put it into energy-save-mode; but it occurs only every tenth time or so. So I rather believe that some IE9 process is the Problem. Want to try the event-log Thing first and maybe will use Hibernation instead until I can have an expert see through the System; Thanks for your Input.

Mostly because someone offered to help me with it but didn't have a M6700 so someone had to try it out. :p

But it's also nice to have the speed permanently changed (if it turns out to be stable).

I have overclocked my K5000 since I got my 6700 last year, I Just use NVIDIA Inspector, and add a shortcut to my Start/All Programs/Startup folder:
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\NVIDIA Inspector\nvidiaInspector.exe" -setBaseClockOffset:0,0,120 -setMemoryClockOffset:0,0,200 -setVoltageOffset:0,0,0 -setPowerTarget:0,0

No need for a BIOS flash!

Looks like there is an issue with this BIOS image. Even though it reports higher clocks, actually only the memory clock has really changed, the GPU clock still runs at the stock speed.

Going back to the standard BIOS image and going to try running with NVIDIA Inspector to see what happens then.

A much lower knuckle biting experience, but at comparable improvement percentage and safe temps?

Incidentally, is anyone using a cooler during these test? One would expect that the results are identical and with no externally applied additional hardware. Nevertheless, it would add to your results should someone want to test it to determine the results.

I had a desktop temp monitor on my W7 HDX and just raising the back lower the temp by 3 degrees. Putting it on the cooler it dropped by 5! Not that you should need a cooler in a well manufactured laptop, but you get the point.

Not recommended. But then again maybe I'm just overly cautious?

    Hello Guys,
    I have a M6700 with K4000, i7-3740QM, and a 6205 WiFi Card.
Unfortunately there is some issues with the wifi card on Win 8. (you have to know that I got my laptop with win 7)
The issue is I have serious packet loss when playing games (for instance: in wow) and youtube videos also lagging. Really annoying especially in games. I don't know any of you had same problem but please help me. Firstly the win 8 installed all the drivers it self, then I installed the latest drivers from intel, and dell sites with no success.

About the often spinning cooling, is there any solution for that? I guess the treshold is really low, and the cooling turns in every 5-6 seconds, on a flat wood surface.

Sorry for my bad english, it's not my native. :(

It is going to suck away at your battery life, but yeah those kind of settings can be changed. I suppose that it is similar to AMD where there is a table with the various clocks under different circumstances, so that should do it.

Were you having this issue with the stock Windows 8 driver? That's the only one I use and it seems to work OK (but I am on wired ethernet much of the time). I've tried a number of newer ones from Intel, Dell, and Windows Update, and always something funny happens after a while --- either loss of connectivity or really really slow transfer.

(I have the Intel 6300 wifi card.)
