    Thanks for that rcb.

I'll try these precise steps this evening. Don't have the fingerprint reader-didn't fancy getting locked out if it didn't work right!

It's pretty hard to get locked out of the computer unless you forget the password. DDPA Wave is good software.

You may have to try these steps a couple+ times to get it to respond. I don't have a dock so it may be a little different. Also, the keystrokes just vary on different screens - if you learn them (write down) they're usually available to avoid hard resets as long as an unknown input form isn't open.

I do know that just yesterday three people have this problem, I had it on two machines, and others who have not posted about it have it. Unless we all have bad video cards or mother boards or LCD's on different models; otherwise it's likely a Windows/Driver issue. For many years I never ran Anti-Virus because it interferes too much, but now do. Always used a standard rather than admin account instead, still do.

Give us your feedback so we can try to pinpoint this problem for everyone.

The last resort is probably try a clean install on a separate drive.

Well switching to only sleep seems fine. Hibernate is my problem, so that's a feature I'll avoid. All my settings are now to use sleep instead. Tried it from the power button and windows start. Wakes up fine once the lid is opened.

Hibernating on the Dell Factory Image is an issue. Windows from my experience likes to have the System Reserved partition but Dell can't include it because of their imaging process. You'll notice that Dell sets that very high in the advanced power settings so that it doesn't trigger especially during sleep.

I assume that you've done all the Windows updates since receiving it. Also assume you use wireless networking. If you ever want to try something: uninstall the wireless driver completely, reboot, reinstall it or a newer version and recreate any profiles.

I'm glad to hear you don't have to hard-reset all the time. Not good for the hardware or file system.

    Me too.
I'm considering upgrading to windows 8 for the performance, I use it on my viao duo 11 where it works ok. Dubious about a non touch laptop and windows 8 tbh, might slow me down too much,

Hey, can anyone tell me if the Firepro M6000 is overclockable. I know it is supposedly between the 7850 and 7870 consumer line cards.

Here are some interesting USB 3.0 test results for anyone interested:

    Express port USB 3.0

Results were from Kingston Hyper X 64 GB USB 3.0

I had been wanting to know this since before I got the laptop, but had to address the stability of the other functions first. I hadn't gotten around to it until now.

I'm glad to see that the express port isn't handicapped by much, so an additional USB 3.0 drives won't be much slower should I need more than two system ports. I borrowed the express port drive I originally purchased for my HDX (which never really worked quite right), and to my surprise it was an instant plug and play operation.

The only obstacle, is its not quite flush and does protrude by a couple mm (1/16") --roughly 1/5 that of the USB transmitter I leave in the laptop all the time, so it's not unworkable, just not OEM smooth. Its recessed on the HDX.

The express card drive actually provide two USB 3.0 ports, but I only tested it for one; and I'm still not sure of the voltage it/they provides--does anyone know this?

Anyway, I will connect both USB 3.0 ports simultaneously tomorrow to see if they're sustainable together. I do know it will power the USB 3.0 and a USB 2.0 for sure.
