32gb of 1866 ram will run at 1866.
pro support is not updated...the fact is that when m6700 goes out there was not in the market 1866 module by 8gb, so the maximum you could get was 4x4 of 1866....and till now they are not updating the configurator...

    problem:
since I would like to connect my android galaxy note 2 to my M6700 wifi ( intel centino N 6205) that is connected to internet by cable, I would like to set the wifi like an hot spot (as I did on my xps..) but I'm not able to do...any idea, suggestions?
    thnks!

    Hi Aaron

I'm not sure if you got the issue resolved regarding the computer waking up from sleep. I just got a M6700 workstation the other day and it was doing the same thing. I would put it to sleep and then a few minutes later it would wake up. I have managed to figure out what the problem is. The reason for this on my machine was due to the wireless card. If you want to test this just turn off the wireless card on the right side of the machine and put your computer to sleep. Your computer should now stay asleep. This worked perfectly for me. Now if this works for you then here is how you can fix the problem without having to turn off your wireless card.

Go into device manager and double click on your network adapters and double click on the Intel(R) Centrino(R) Ultimate-N6300 AGN adapter (if you have this one or the one you have) Choose power management and uncheck allow this computer to wake the computer choose okay and you should now have a system that stays asleep

    Hope this helps
    Thanks,
    Jason

So I have the opportunity to trade in my AMD FirePro 6000M for a AMD 7970M, So I was wondering if anyone has any experience with this card inside a M6700 or even knows if this is possible.

There's an option somewhere to allow wireless to wake from sleep....can't remember now, but I'd look for that....I don't allow wireless to wake from sleep....look under advanced power options.

Covet arrived yesterday on schedule. Been so busy though haven't had time to test or install anything yet. Not really sure where to start first: RAM, SSDs, drivers, programs, OS? Whew! So much good advice and lessons to remember in all these threads.

Also, I had intended to update the OD, but my blu-ray is tray loading and the Precision is slot loading. And that little screw for the mSATA forgot about that. What do?

Start with the RAM that goes under the keyboard, that will be the most delicate part, just be careful when removing the keyboard trim, it is a bit delicate. I would then go on to installing the rest of the hardware you got then doing a clean install. For the mSATA screw, if like me you have extra screws for WLAN adapters, use those and if you don't, use the screw for the HDD caddy latch release, it's not like you can accidentally release the HDD with the latch under the battery anyways. Also, the primary drive caddy is screwed in by default, so don't try to eject it before removing those 4 screws as well.

You have the full teardown guide available from Dell for free if you want it.

For the ODD, the tray cover may not be a perfect fit or the same color, but you can swap the dvd for the BD drive easily enough.

Thanks for the post. You know, after a couple of weeks it just worked itself out and I never had sleep issues anymore. Not sure if I changed something or if a driver/firmware update came along and fixed something. (There was a bit of flux with Windows 8 at the time, I was using it in the time between RTM and retail release.)

That is correct, 2 sockets under the keyboard and two under (or above if the notebook is not upside down) the back panel for a maximum of 32GB.

There shouldn't be any problems and should be a straight up swap. My 680M swap was easy, but honestly I would expect AMD drivers to give you some trouble afterwards.
