I'm looking at buying M6700 from the Dell Outlet and the CPU is prrocessor: Intel® Core™ i7-3720QM - Is it worth holding out for a new i7 CPU? Is the board and chassis still the same in these other units? Will this 3720QM run the 16GB 1866 memory?

Yes, the 3720qm will. The only RAM the M6700 doesn't seem to like regardless of the CPU is the 4GB DDR3 1866MHz Corsair SODIMMs. The 8GB 1866MHz ones seem tow ork just fine and the 1600MHz ones work perfectly as well.

    So 4x4GB 1866 is a no? And 2x8GB 1866 is a yes?

Was there any board revisions on the M6700?

Actually there isn't 8GB Corsair sticks so do you mean 2x2GB 1866 and 2x4GB sticks?

Odd, I went onto the manufacturers website and could only see the 8 gb kit.

    Thanks.

Dell's website the M6700 only supports 16gb of this quicker memory, anyone tried more than 16?

Looks like there is a new bios version: A08 up as of today. I have yet to try it.

The fixes and enhancement notes, I think some of you will be interested in #3:
Dell's download server has decided not to like me today, I'm unable to download the file right now.

    BIOS update release notes:

    1. Enhanced DDPE functionality.
    2. Enhanced DDPA functionality.
    3. Enhanced brightness control functionality.
    4. Enhanced diagnostic support.

We have some people who are getting a failure related to brightness control in the system diagnostic utility. Maybe this will do something about it?

I probably won't install it until the weekend. After a previous BIOS update related mishap, I always like to make a full backup first...

Hmm, looks like Aaron ninja'ed my edit. :p

I also plan on a full backup before updating. My docs are on the mSATA and that is the only drive that I don't have an adapter for so I can't just hook it to an adapter and recover the data.
