These threads are here for idea, experiences, suggestion, information etc. To suggest that your way is any more credible than someone's else's is not your call. May I suggest you let the mods make that determination from now on.

@ Bokeh can you give any review on the quality of the display, i.e pros/cons does it measure up to your standards? And what about the quality of the audio? Any improvements? Or is it still the least developed category of any laptop IMO.

    Looks nice!

Can you post the M4700 info as well, perhaps in the "preliminary info" thread?

Glad to see that the M6700 has what looks like a better fingerprint scanner, and that they embedded the smart card reader rather than use a sticker like on the M6600.

What colour is the fp scanner? In one picture it looks bright yellow and in another it looks white, neither of which are the best colours for rubbing your finger on every day!

Has anyone explained why the number of USB 3.0 ports is limited? Is it just a space issue? I would have thought they would all be USB 3.0 now.

Indeed you're not alone on that, especially at this level of notebook and now that there's native supports for it. The MBP has all USB 3.0 ports although on the other hand there are just 2 ports in total so in the end, I guess it works out to be the same.

Mano, what would be the battery life for M4700 with IPS + NVIDIA K1000M + 9-cell?

Can we expect Intel to update GPU drivers to handle IPS or it is just a hardware limitation?

    Thanks!

It is gold. Will get a macro pic for you with a colour reference.

There are other USB 3 connections used internally. Will fill in more info.

I was wondering about this too, I've seen other Ivy Bridge notebooks that have 4 USB 3.0 ports, and I thought I read that the chipset supports 4 of them, so I was expecting the same on the new Precision. I wonder if they saved the other two to be mapped only through the dock connector?

Not a big deal. Not going to have that many USB 3.0 devices connected all at once.

Any idea if they will be offering a touchpanel in the future?
