Hello guys, I need your help.
Mine laptop is UHD eDP panel with now K2100M, but I want to upgrade to WX4150, but I have queestions:
    1) If I buy a HP card (Which is only 90$ on ebay), will I have a problem's with installation or working?
    2) Will HP WX4150 work with Windows 7?
    3) Since I have UHD eDP panel I dont have Enduro option. Will Internal Screen work with HP WX4150 and should I choose option for Discrette Only when I will change card?
    4) Will I need to use a external FAN Control software for HP WX4150? If yes, which one is preffered?
    5) For heatsink I'ill need a shim. Which is best thickness: 0.8 or 1.0mm?

    Thanks.

    1. I would assume it works fine, you might have issues if it doesn't have VBIOS chip
    2. Probably not, outdated OS anyways
    3. Yes
    4. Yes, HWinfo64
    5. I think its 1mm but check others posts.

Thanks for your answer's. I have info to think.
    1) There are 2 version's of HP's WX4150 card: with BLUE PCB (https://www.ebay.com/itm/HP-L17822-...138714&hash=item3b403bee3e:g:tQgAAOSwsCdeHQg-) and with GREEN PCB (https://www.ebay.com/itm/HP-4GB-PCA...476244&hash=item26354ee7f1:g:600AAOSwRg9eRdgC). With a 95% assurance I can say: HP WX4150 BLUE PCB is a 100% identical to Dell WX4150 GREEN PCB (https://www.ebay.com/itm/Dell-Preci...245822?hash=item1a7a9ccbbe:g:KVkAAOSwK3lcvge8) HP WX4150 BLUE PCB have a vBIOS chip, so, if there will be a problems, I can flash it with Dell's vBIOS.

    Thanks for your answers.

I have one: CH341 Gold from Aliexpress. Used it many times to flash my P177SM.

Hi all, hope you keeping well considering this year's events!:)

since apocalypse is in full swing, and toilet paper vanished from the shelves, I decided that it must be a sign, to change my GPU! :)

(because obviously I can probably save enough dough for a new GPU by not buying TP for my bunghole)

so my take from (having time to read it all) that its 99% plug and play with Wx 4150 Mobile Graphics, regarding eDP based M4800?

the only unanswered clear enough questions I have are:

    1. there are HP cards sold on bay, and if one (ME) buys HP card how likely it would be for it to be a "plug&play"?

    2. still not clear on why there is talk around re-flashing? if most albeit ambiguous answers relating to weather Wx 4150 Mobile Graphics will work out of a jiffy bag, state that it will?

    3. I have noticed some cards sold on bay have numbers, examples below. are those revisions or something to consider relating to availability of aforementioned VBIOS chip on the card?

and bonus question IS.....it or is it not better to buy vbios Radeon or one without also viable option!? (sub question how to ID one)

    4GB MXM HP PCA
    Radeon Pro Wx 4150 Mobile Graphics L10991-001 L10991001 <<<<<<<<<<<

4GB MXM HP PCA Radeon Pro Wx 4150 Mobile Graphics L17822-001 L17822001 <<<<<<<<<<<

Thanks and do really hope you guys are all well.

    My best regards

    Hello.
    1) No one tried HP card. Everyone just buying DELL GREEN Card and it's Plug&Play. But I think that the Blue HP Card only need reflash Stock HP vBIOS to Dell vBIOS.
    2) I dont understand your message clear, but we are talking about reflash only because no one tried HP Card in their M4800 and no one knows if HP Card working in our laptop, even China guys didn't tried.
    3) Number of Card are service tag's of part for laptop. It's better to buy this HP card, if you want to try it and help us.
BONUS) Yes, it's easier to just buy a Dell card, but price difference is to big: 90$ for HP and 160$ for DELL (Or 133$ for DELL on Aliexpress).

Thanks for quick reply, so now its clear regarding the easy route.

and cheaper avenue is still untested (HP+Vbios)

I would buy "HP blue" to try, but cheaper is a relative thing in my situation (I live in UK) reason being is that buying from USA gets a import+shipping tax slap, and I would end up paying same amount as buying DELL ver. from China Directly, so no logic jumping into probability wagon in my opinion. if someone would be willing to sell one for £100 in UK I would try it.

my question now, is there a guide somewhere relating to what tools I need to use in order to flash the card in case it needs to be?
sub question would be is it possible on eDP m4800 with QHD sceen without resorting to another PC? (this is my situation)

Again thanks for clarification Boris, and thanks to those who were pioneers in testing it.

    DELL CARD = plug&play
HP CARD = UNKNOWN+FLASH, also unknown

    DELL card =$>
    HP card =<$

OK so I have taken risk and got HP card seller says its compatible which gives me a return option if its not , so we shal see soon if HP blue card is a viable option.

Glad to hear that someone will test HP Blue card!
To flash vBIOS directly to vBIOS chip on card you need programmer (Cheap CH341A + Clip from Aliexpress will be enough) and another PC to flash vBIOS from it.
Sub question answer: If you on QHD screen you dont have Optimus/Enduro mode, where integrated into CPU Graphics can output image to internal display (If you have QHD/UHD/Screen higher, than 60Hz and you pull out discrete GPU you will not have an image on internal screen). So, it's a good idea to use another PC. I will add a HOWTO Flash vBIOS guide later, when I find good one)
