I just read the m4700 and m6700 and m6700 Crave are available today. Strange that first news I have read of this would be on a Mac news forum. But there is no product yet to be found on Dell's website. Can anyone confirm this?

Business-class notebooks typically are more conservative with legacy ports. A fast CPU/GPU helps to get stuff done, but so does interoperability with existing tech. USB 3 is supposed to be backwards-compatible, but it's likely there are some USB 1/2 devices that aren't forward-compatible. Buggy firmware, nonstandard connectors—you know it's out there somewhere. It's probably a safer (and cheaper) bet just to include a few USB 2 ports.

Recall how long it took for serial and parallel ports to go (mostly) away. We're still stuck with VGA because of all those conference room projectors.

It's up on the UK website, same price as the old gen. It does look slimmer!

It's up on the Swedish and Dutch sites as well. The M4700 seems unchanged design wise and the specs are as expected (IVB CPU, Kepler GPU etc.).

Some things I noticed on the Swedish config page (this might not apply to other countries):
    - You can now order 16GB RAM in a 2 x 8GB configuration.
    - There are 2 options for a 256GB SSD: an mSATA one, and a "256GB 2.5inch Serial ATA SED Solid State Drive". I wonder which brand/model this is? The regular Samsung PM830?
    - The BT card doesn't come standard anymore.
    - Only the most expensive model (with the i7-3820QM as the standard CPU) has an Intel Advanced-N 6205 WLAN card. The other models have a Dell Wireless 1504 with no option to upgrade to an Intel card (which was standard here on the M4600!). I hope this is a mistake...
    - The M4700 has an "Integrated 1.0 Mega Pixel Camera with Microphone", while according to the specs the M4600 had a 2.1 MP camera + microphone.
    - The backlit keyboard is now standard, while previously it was an option.

AnandTech - Dell Announces New Precision M4700 and M6700 Mobile Workstations
Dell Announces New Precision M4700 and M6700 Mobile Workstations

Today Dell is updating their Precision Mobile Workstation lineup with two new model, the 15.6” M4700 and the 17.3” M6700. Dell is keen to point out several “firsts” for the new models, including the first PCIe 3.0 enabled GPU in a mobile workstation, the first to offer DDR3-1866 memory, and the first to offer built-in NVIDIA 3D Vision Pro. We’ll get to the specifics in a moment, but these are Dell’s highest-end offerings for notebook users, with prices, build quality, and specs to match; if you’re not using professional applications (e.g. Dell has ISV certifications from companies like Autodesk, Adobe, Matrox, Sony, Siemens PLM Software, Dynamic Graphics, and many others), there’s a good chance you may not need this sort of notebook. Still interested? Here’s what Dell has on tap.

What section are you looking at? Small and Medium Business or Large Enterprise? Last one always has higher level of possible configuration options.

Just checked possible config - almost £2700 :(. Will definitely need more info about AMD video... (put k2000 due to Optimus)

Noticed that there is now "UK/Irish Advanced E-Port II with 130W AC Adapter, USB 3.0, without stand" - But looks like 130W will not be even nearly enough for 4700's dock (240W? There is no such option at this moment, but was for 4600)

P.S. I was looking at Large Enterprise section.

    P.P.S DDR3-1866 was even a bit cheaper than 1600. (2х4GB)
