I told you people that two years ago and you all said I was silly. Who's the silly one now?
That is exactly why variety is the spice of life. Just go to your friendly neighborhood electronics store if you don't believe me. Some of us depend on the clarity of those graphics for our very existence. Text (which can be scaled without concern) is the least of my worries.
We need to get off this folk. We're not making good sense. A turbine or electric engine is a whole lot more efficient than an gasoline one so why aren't we all driving turbine or electric powered cars?

In addition, a horse and biggie is more ecologically sound than an internal combustion engine so whey aren't we still using those too?

Technology doesn't stagnate, it doesn't go backwards it moves forward. If you don't like the changes I'm sure there is someone somewhere willing to sell you their old dying 12:10 laptop for your text viewing pleasure.

On the other hand, you can always start up your own business and see how it goes. Although I'm not sure how far beyond this website the love for 16:10 displays go?

Why's a color option fail? The gloss?

Yes, it comes with a glossy screen if you go for the covet edition. At least, that's how it was in with the M6500. I would like a red color and would be willing to pay extra for it, but if it comes with the stupid E2E like AW's - no, thanks.

Good point, no one thought of that perspective on electric cars

My point, since you didn't get it, was that you shouldn't dump on new technology based on previous products. Plus sooner or later the choice to move "up" will be made for you, whether you like it or not, whether it is better or not.

Companies cannot sell old products when the competition is marketing something new. Except when what is new is also really expensive and not practical for many people. So that is why we have gas powered cars and 100dpi screens. See I can state the obvious too!

Nobody loves 16:9, they just buy it because that is what is sold to them. Why dump on people who want 16:10 back?

Interesting,... according to the manuals, the new beasts are slightly slimmer than the predecessors. The M6700 is 33mm thick compared to the 37mm of the M6600. Wonder if it's true.

Is that all you've got? Why is it that I feel all this hullabaloo is just a build up that is going to be a real let down? This thing seems to be getting more press time than the last Alienware update and this is merely a business class machine? Go figure.

Well at least the Alienware did deliver in a radical completely new case design. As to the highly publicized claim that it was the most powerful laptop on the planet--well that never really came to fruition did it?

Dunno, this refresh is pretty invisible, IMHO. Very few leaks, very little hype. Compare this to the AW or retina MBP release, - now that was some hullabaloo. So far, if the leaks prove to be correct, the refresh is quite ok. Except for the AMD GPU.

No new case, same as the predecessors. Sandy to Ivy AW's are using the same chassis with one little change - mSATA instead of the WiHD transmitter. And, the M18xR2 is the most powerful notebook on the planet ;) Show me another (available for order) laptop that can hit 5.3GHz on the CPU (4-cores/8-threads), have the 680MSLI/7970mCF with a huge OC'ing headroom, and up to 5 hard drives (mSATA SSD + 3xSATA3 SSD/HDDs + 1 SSD/HDD in optibay).

Can't be same case if it is 4mm thinner which is a big change for a notebook like this. Dell can only deliver what Intel supplies.

But saying that, the Razer Blade is a very interesting machine. It is very thin and shaves quite a few pounds off the Precision. I would consider that over the Precision for a personal machine but probably stick with a 15" 4700 since these 17" machines are overkill for what I need.
