Ohh... Here I thought they was going to use a GPU with 256-Bit Memory Bus Bit for MXM Type B. As the MXM Type A is maximum 128 Bit, if the M6000 is on the M6700 it doesn't seems much of an improvement (for the waiting).

My point was, it this is a factor then you should be looking elsewhere for a notebook. It like ask for the hauling power of full size pick up and high mileage too. Its not going to happen.
For me anything other than battleship gray. Nothing against the military but I mean really guys?

M6000 is mxm 3.0a ? I hope so since I want to upgrade my Precision M4600 with faster graphics card.

I'm pretty sure the Nvidia k5000m is 256 bit. Don't know about AMD cards though?

Hence why I questioned, whether the M6000 is truly the M6700 GPU replacement for AMD solution. As the M6000 seems to cater the lower than rated 100watts consumption, and has 128 Memory Bus Bit. But than that's me being wishful thinking, as there isn't much information. Just sounds too MXM 3.0 Type A, not B......

Just have to wait till more information when the HP Elitebook are released, which MXM3.0 Type it is...

Notebookcheck.net's comparison review (680M vs 7970M) says the chips are both 256 bit (i.e., 64x4).
Many SpecViewPerf performance numbers are far in AMD's favor, at the cost of increased power consumption. (May be due to additional hardware for double precision performance? Measurements could change some with pro drivers.)
I wonder if the Dell Precision design will reduce the noise on GPU load.
I hope the battery life is competitive when the discrete GPU is idle.
They also report AMD's Enduro reduced performance for some (game) software, so I hope there is a (BIOS) setting to control whether Enduro is enabled. (That may be why HP had chosen not to include AMD GPU switching in a recent generation of their mobile workstations.)

Currently there are no information what GPU the M6700 would use, so far AMD only announced the M6000 M6400 M2000 FirePro Workstation GPU solution. Which people believe it's underpowered......

Don't be disappointed. I'd suggest patience over disappointment if I were to be the presumptuous type. ;)

I was being way, way conservative, but I'll move a little closer to the edge with my verbiage below.
Aiki, my man, we go way back. If you guys and gals ever want me to jump in a Precision thread, hit me up. I'll be there. You know how I put things- some imaginative reading between the lines will tell the tale.

My product expertise lies in Vostro, Inspiron, XPS and Alienware, but the Precision guys sit across the aisle from me. I can chase down information when needed.

OK. To expand a bit on my quoted comment from the XPS thread-
We still can't talk dates, but I can say that at this time we are seeing nothing that's going to stop our current launch target date. This could change, and if it does, I'll be back with some semi-cryptic comment that will clue you in.

If you are thinking about buying a competitor product today, July 2, 2012, you would be doing yourself the dis-service of limiting available products to comparison shop against if you don't wait a few weeks, just in case Dell plans on launching a new competitor product within that time frame. If you can't wait a few weeks, you should go ahead and pull the trigger on whatever suits your needs on the market today. If you can wait a few weeks, you might be surprised/impressed/happy with the spec sheet on a new Precision, if we happen to have one planned for release.

As of this time, "early fall" is an extremely conservative time frame, which I was purposely using on that thread in order to not irritate any of my colleagues in Precision. The thing is, they hang out and lurk this board. So I got an IM this morning: "Is this you?" I had a chat with the product messaging and planning lead. He's ok with the verbiage above and thought the verbiage in the XPS thread was a little conservative. :)

Thanks for the post, Bill, I think I get what you're saying. :p

Looking forward to more information. Most likely will be ordering a M6700 as soon as they're available.
