Has anyone else had an issue with their left touchpad button sticking? I haven't spilled not one thing down in there, but yet out of the blue today my touchpad started sticking kind of badly.

It could just be a freak thing. I'm gonna monitor it and see if it gets any better/worse.

EDIT: The issue seems to have worked itself out for now at least. It still feels slightly strange though.

I have not encountered this issue before, other than it is impossible to clean. Mine has a permanent shiny look to it now.

What is going on with Dell's driver website lately? Bios A03 is the latest according to the website amongst other drivers being incorrectly identified as latest.

This weirdness has been going on for a while. I find it hard to believe that they haven't corrected it yet. It's very unprofessional.

I just received official word from Dell that a simple BIOS update could enable the m3800 to support 16GB DIMMs, making the laptop capable of supporting up to 32GB of RAM. Engineering confirmed that if enough demand exists, they would make the change. I would encourage everyone to speak/email/chat with tech support and have this request escalated up to engineering.

What do you need 32GB of RAM for, on this kind of a machine? Just curious.

Me, personally, for music production. Composers like myself routinely eat up sometimes over 32GB of RAM instantly while working with orchestral sample libraries. 16GB often doesn't cut it.

Just to set the record straight, there are no plans to increase the max memory on the Precision M3800 beyond 16GB.

    Tks,

Any particular reason? Other manufacturers (ASUS, specifically) were able to easily double their laptops capacity through a simple BIOS update, which included altering the Intel MRC (memory reference code). No hardware update required. That was my specific question to Dell, and engineers confirmed it is possible to do.

Probably due to minuscule demand, and the availability of other Precisions with 4 DIMM slots (M4800/6800)?
