Dell Precision M3800 Owner's Review

Hmm, could have sworn that somebody here said the new M3800s were shipping with the 1560. The XPS 15 A07 BIOS notes say they added support for the DW 1560 too, so maybe that's what's used at least on the new 4K variants of that model?

 

I have also been seeing that and I would like to know the difference between the two? Also why is the Dell wireless 2x2 and Intel wireless only 1 if I guessed right

Dell XPS 13 (9343) QHD+ uses Dell AC 1560
Dell XPS 13 (9343) FHD uses Dell AC 1560
Dell Latitude 12 E5250 uses Intel AC 7265
Microsoft Surface Pro 3 uses Marvel solution
Dell XPS 15 (9530) uses Intel AC 7260
Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro uses Intel AC 7260

You can see a sensitive difference in performance even on the same system (XPS 13 with different display) and of course you are right: different systems, no info about drivers version, no info about methodology used in review, but if Dell has followed Apple using a Broadcom chip maybe there is a reason and this review seems to explain why.
Moreover Dell has switched all XPS lines from Intel to Broadcom chip (at least in my country).
Seems that even the recent Intel AC 7265 is not competitive with Dell AC 1560.
Another advantage could be that now you can realize a perfect hackintosh with XPS 15 9530, in fact before of Dell AC 1560 there were 2 things that are not working: Intel AC 7260 and and Realtek SD card reader.

 

I wonder how the 1560 stacks up against the 1601?

Dell 1601 is an old adapter and it's not compatible with 802.11ac standard.

 

I'm aware of that, just curious to compare performance on frequencies they both share (2.5 ghz I guess).

The 1601 also has 802.11 ad, which should allow for the highest throughput.

I'm in Qatar and would like to order one of these laptops.only problem is the Dell business dealers here charge me approx $3000/- for a system which costs only,for the same specs, $2000/- plus ~$200 for getting it here via aramex since dell USA don't ship it here
