    If you look at the XPS 15 TOUCH Reference Guide, which all indications is the same platform as the M3800, the 91Wh 6-cell battery is physically larger than the 61Wh battery:
    Width = 13.48 in (342.4 mm) versus 10.63 in (270 mm)

    There is an interposer and HDD cable connection to system board in the XPS 15 TOUCH, so it is very likely you wouldn't lose that option in the 91Wh battery configuration.

    How would anyone here recommend optimizing the battery? My 9 cell XPS 15 shows 5 hours off the first boot on low brightness and very very light use/idle.

    Looking at the spec sheet, it indicates that the battery life-span is 300 discharge/charge cycles. Is that typical? it sounds quite low to me - I typically charge the laptop once a day (during the week), and that would mean, based on my usage, that they expect the battery to last not much more than a year!

    You can order it with a standard platter HDD, so I imagine 9.5mm will fit.

    Is anyone here running Autodesk Revit? I have always run AutoCAD, but I am going to be switching to Revit shortly and I am not sure how much of a choke point being limited to 16gb RAM will be. I am doing buildings under 40,000 s.f. and large homes, so not huge Revit projects, but there will be some detail to them. I don't know what the 'workstation' designations and certifications buy you, but I don't imagine much more than the most basic terms of the program will open and run. I also do a lot of Photoshop and Lightroom work, and can never seem to have enough RAM.

    I would speculate that the port will still be there, the 9-cell battery will just take up the space where the 2.5" drive goes. Though we need someone to get hold of one of these machines with the 9-cell battery and take a look inside (or Dell to make some official comment) before we know for sure.

    It seems very low, the Samsung Ativ book 8 that has a battery capacity of 91Wh, Samsung claims that after 1500 charge cycles it keeps the 70% of original capacity, but Samsung even claims that is 5 time more than a standard battery.
