What about on the i7-4702HQ motherboards? If a decrease in 0.1 GHz of clock speed eliminates coil whine then I'd say that's a fair trade.

That was the launch spec, so yes coil whine exists there too.

I've been searching on this for a while but having no luck finding any info on Wimax in the M3800:

Does the 3800 have an open PCI-E slot by any chance or a slot for an adapter?

I use Wimax service in NYC and having trouble replacing. It is built into my Lenovo T410S so I continue to use that machine.

What I'm wondering is if it would be possible to install the Intel Centrino Advanced–N + WiMAX 6250 PCI Express Half-Mini Card into the M3800 and somehow get it to work for Wimax. Either in addition to the 7260 or to replace it.

I understand possibly playing with fire. Unfortunately Sprint has taken over Clear (1 and only Wimax provider) and slowly killing it by not selling any new devices. Never a fan of the USB dongles anyways.

    Thanks in advance

The 7260 is a mini-PCIe card (I believe half-height), so theoretically you could swap that out for the 6250 if it's also half-height. However, you would lose Bluetooth, and not having any personal experience with WiMAX, I don't know how the antenna situation would work -- but I'm not optimistic. I would be very surprised if a Bluetooth antenna (which is designed for 2.4 GHz) could be repurposed for WiMAX duty, and I definitely wouldn't count on being able to retrofit an appropriate antenna into this system.

Anyone know if they're going to put the 7212HQs in the preconfigured ones anytime soon?

Unfortunately, Dell changed my main board, (original - green) because when I watched youtube or film the sound got stuck many times. That green main borad had no coil whine issue. The new blue one have and I am still experiencing the "sound stuck issue".

I downloaded both drivers from Dell, haven't tried them yet. Are you using Touchpad_Synaptics_W8.14_X11_A01_Setup-2WCNF_ZPE as opposed to M3800_Input_Driver_2WCNF_WN_17.0.15.84_A01 or something from somewhere else?

Will I lose any functionality if I switch? Like the 3/4 finger gestures and stuff? :) I've been using them with much success lately and would like to keep them.

    Hi guys,
It has been a while since I posted on this thread. Which of course means that in general things are going great with my machine and I am really enjoying it as I am sure many others are, therefore not posting as often.

I had indicated in my last post that I really had none of the recurring issues mentioned here. The only problem I have noticed lately is with my pointer when using the mouse or track pad. When I just turn on the computer everything works really fine. But after a few hours of work or turning back on from sleep (since I do not shut down in general), I find that the mouse pointer lacks precision. To click on something let say a tab on a web page, I have to hover about an inch or so away from what I want to click to actually click it. It is much more irritating when typing a text or email and you want to get to a precise location. Than it is almost impossible to pin point. So I resort to the touch screen as a solution. I get used to it, but it is really bothersome especially when I have others trying to work on the pc for some reason. I do not know if anyone has encountered that problem and knows of a fix. When using the touch screen all is fine, but the track pad or mouse cannot do it.

All the other features work pretty well on the track pad, so I do not know if it would be a driver issue...
    Thanks for any ideas..

Of course there is always the restart button, but I usually have a few applications in use and do not want to save the work every time this happens to reopen all the apps again.
