Thanks. I had 16.x and downloaded 17.x. Dumb question, but where do you turn off BT? Not in BIOS and no BT Control Panel?

BTW I see inSSIDer has gone to $19! Any good alternatives... seems like I may be able to find the old free version.

EDIT: I stand corrected about my earlier version comment. It seems Intel has pulled Bluetooth driver versioning up from 3.x to 17.x to keep in lockstep with their Wifi drivers.

Unless the M3800's BIOS interface is different from the XPS 15's (and a few prior posts indicate there may be some differences), then it may not be possible to disable the Bluetooth module entirely. Generally when people talk about disabling Bluetooth they mean disabling the radio. I'm running Windows 8.1, which provides a Metro interface for doing so. Not sure how you'd do it on this system on Win7.

    Ok guyz update :

by the way no coil noise or some ...

so i finally got a copy of Windows 8.1 , did a fresh install on my msata : never seen a windows instal that quick lol !!

But after all the drivers install i still have one USB device that is unknown in my devie manager , and one driver that couldn't be installed : Network Driver XP0G2 with that message on :

"Platform cheked failed : Intel smart Connect device not found in bios "

    Any clue ?

the propblem is that in the bios , smart conect can only be activated when Sata mode is set to intel stuff witch has to be disable for a regular 2 hdd config ...

You're confusing Smart Connect with Smart Response. The missing device you're seeing is Smart Connect, but the feature that requires a particular SATA mode is Smart Response. Basically you have two options here:

    1. Go into the BIOS and also disable Smart Connect if you won't use it (most people don't).
    2. Install the Intel Smart Connect application, which will contain the driver you're missing.

Read up on Smart Connect here to decide whether you want to use it: Intel® Smart Connect Technology

If Smart Connect is disabled in the BIOS, you wouldn't be able to install the driver -- but you wouldn't NEED to install the driver since it's disabled. If it were disabled, you shouldn't be seeing that extra device. Since you DO see an extra device, that means Smart Connect is already enabled in the BIOS, so either install the driver or disable it in the BIOS (which will cause that extra device to disappear).

It doesn't make sense to enable Smart Connect just long enough to install the driver and then disable it again. Why would you want a driver installed for something you're just going to disable in the BIOS afterward? Or if you just like having all of your features enabled in the BIOS, you can enable Smart Connect, install the driver, and then use the Smart Connect application to turn it off. It will still be enabled on a hardware level and will simply not be used by Windows.

It makes sense to install Intel Rapid Storage at least to get the driver. You don't really need the application itself since you don't have a cache setup, but it doesn't hurt either. You can disable the system tray icon if it bothers you. Or you can just go to Intel's site to find the "F6 Floppy" option that includes ONLY the driver (which you install through Device Manager directly) rather than the actual application.

I downloaded the Intel 17.x BT software/drivers but it would not install.... I guess if need be I can just disable this since I never use it.
