Just checking in before I go on vacation.
Mine was ordered 15th (day after launch) got delivery 28th, then 21st, then back to 28th. On the 28th it got bumped to December 13. Not a word until the 13. when it didn't arrive. Later that day it got delayed even further. New date: Jan 3 2014..

    Merry Christmas everyone! ;)

do any of the m3800 owners find the power plug into the laptop to be a lil wiggly? once in it has some wiggle too it, i dunno if it comes like this or if im just paranoid. Don't matter much. Just received the unit today.

Mine is still showing "delivery" on the 20th, which would mean shipping tomorrow. I am not holding my breath, but when I get the delay email tomorrow or Friday, I will report back in.

Grrr... This is starting to make me move away from Dell. I ordered mine on the 14th - day of launch. It was scheduled to deliver on 21st of Nov. Then 28th of Nov. Then the 26th of Dec. I contacted our rep and he said it shows it will ship out the 18th of Dec. Today, I log in I see a "Updated! 1/21/2014" is when it will ship out. I was hoping to get this thing before I head out on vacation to test it next week, but it doesn't look like that will happen.

Obviously if these guys knew they wouldn't be getting these parts, maybe should have put in a 500 order limit and put stuff out of stock and increase the delivery date to 1st quarter of 2014.

If there were anything on par with this unit on the windows side of things, I would switch right now - but i can only see the Macbook as an equal and my company won't go with apple - otherwise, i'd buy one right now.

I ordered mine custom (512 Gb mSata and 61 Whr battery so I can add 2nd 512 Gb or 1 Tb SSD - only option for 2nd SSD was 256 Gb) on 11/19 and it was actually delivered on 12/10, 1 day ahead of schedule (to New Jersey).

System has been fantastic for the last week until today when mSata drive apparently gave up the ghost. System says no drive installed.I had just finished loading all my applications and then transferring 150 Gb of data from my previous XPS-15z. System was just sitting logged in not running any applications except those auto started (DropBox, SkyDrive, etc.) and then blue-screened and on restart no drive found.

Have been on hold with Dell support 34 minutes (so far) to have them send me a replacement drive . . . hopefully this is not one of the parts on shortage.

Luckily I imaged system after installing my applications so recovery won't be too bad once I get a new drive.

Fantastic system but haven't really had a chance to use it too much yet between work and the holidays.

Have you tried just disconnecting and reseating the mSATA SSD, assuming you have a Torx screwdriver handy? It's fairly unusual for SSDs to die like that, so I'm wondering if it's a random connector issue. Dell may also want to send you a new motherboard alongside the SSD in case it's an issue with the connector itself rather than the drive, but if that happens definitely ask them to test just a new SSD first.

Thanks for the suggestion. Yes, I tried that first but drive is held in place by a screw. I removed screw and drive and replaced but still no go.

After 40 minutes on hold got through on chat in a few minutes. Dell offered to replace entire system since so new but no guarantee on delivery or drive, thought at least 10 days for new system . Given wide reports of delays here I didn't want to chance that so accepted replacement drive to try first. Will report back after receiving and replacing drive. Should be Friday.

hello GiBi deemed to be using FEA software from beginner. Solidworks and CAD / CAM applications that will be using the most. I was torn between M4800 and M3800 but in the end I bought M3800! For four years I used macbook then also the form of the computer for me has had its importance! Obviously M3800 is enough for me for what I have to do, at least for the moment.
