So the Haswell 22nm Tri-Gate process has matured to the point that LV and ULV die/dice have essentially the same transistor leakage currents and switching speeds / gate delay and Intel is not binning them, but only doing some additional validation on the ULV parts for power vs frequency scaling?
Or is Intel validating all the die/dice to ULV spec and just labeling them LV for marketing purposes to fill out the SKU range?

This sounds like a 'use at your own risk' + YMMV utility similar to general overclocking.
Who is validating it for professional production use? Intel? Or Dell?
If Intel and/or Dell are providing this a validated M3800 solution for lower power usage then that is cool - literally.

The Haswell XPS 15 (essentially a M3800 with a 750m) will launch alongside Windows 8.1.

Precision to be more expensive than XPS 15?

XPS 15 already costs a bomb.

The costs are high, but they don't look so bad when compared to the competition. Also, who buys Dell at retail anyway? ;)

I haven't bought a dell in a decade. What are the good retail discounts out there?

Yeah... but I like "Precision". We'll see when it comes out. Probably wait until 8.1 comes out and if no news of m3800 - i'll settle for xps 15.

8.1 is out, on countries with time zones ahead of US.

Since the XPS date was confirmed and the Precision just says November, waiting a month won't make much difference anyway (both use the same body, XPS may take a month to ship, Precision should be ready to ship then).

The new XPS 15 is now officially released and available for orders. Estimated US shipping date is November 11. Now is the decision time whether to wait for the m3800 or to go with the XPS.

As I understand, most believe these two laptops to be almost identical with just a few differences. So, let's identify those differences. I am aware of just two:

    1. The graphics card.

    2. WiGig docking station support.

    Anything else?
