    Nice... A little bit surprised if they're giving you a RTX A4000, since your original system had a P3200, that's a considerable upgrade. Though I guess it doesn't cost that much more than A3000 (what I would expect them to make you get); you could easily argue A2000 is a downgrade just because of the vRAM. Also quite the upgrade in the CPU space as well...

    This is what I'm hoping to get; I haven't received a response yet, and the service representative said they'd have to get managerial approval. I am going to push for an 8-core and the A4000, if at all possible.

    I feel like the 7530/7730 were all-around a bit lemon-heavy, owing to all the issues I see around here. I myself have seen several problems with the notebooks...

    Have you considered mounting the drive in a USB 3 enclosure and booting Linux from that? The adjustments to the GRUB configuration file shouldn't be too difficult. Obviously slower than the NVMe port, but perhaps better than nothing.

    Any suggestions on how to receive a slightly better deal (on a 7760) than the current very good deals on the Dell website? I have purchased through Dell four laptops (including three precision mobiles) in the past 20 years, though they are all old and out of warranty. Two of them were associated with a family business, though that is sold now. I am a teacher, though the 10% Dell discount for teachers does not apply to precision workstations. Any suggestions about what department of Dell might consider quoting me a slightly better price for a particular configuration? Sorry if this is an inappropriate question but I'd greatly appreciate any suggestions.

    If that happened to me, I would be so pissed... since I really don't want to have to go back to my XPS and have to transfer a bunch of files which is a huge pain. At least you get a free upgrade to the 7760 (which you deserve considering how many problems you have had)

    Does your school have a relationship with Dell? They might have a dedicated account rep you could talk to or have your IT department talk to. Seems like even though the 10% discount is not "official" for these workstations, they might be able to work something out. (If you're going to be using this in your teacher capacity you could possibly get sales tax knocked off too.)

    It's been a while since I've done this but I've generally been able to get a modest discount just by calling the business sales line and talking to whatever rep I get. Know exactly what you want and what the web price is (with any applicable current coupons/discounts) and ask them if they can do any better than that.

    If you're interested in doing financing, they might have deals available on that too. (I paid for my M6700 at 1.99% APR over five years through Dell Business Credit. Not sure if they still do offers like that...)

    It never hurts trying to negotiate the price down, though if at all, expect the savings to be minimal since this is a "limited quantity sale" and obviously the price is pretty fair right now.

    my 7730 is an xeon 2186m, 32GB ECC 2400, Radeon Pro WX 7100 (*got a change to an 3200 quadro about 2 months in), 256GB SSD, 4K, FIPS etc.
    my 7760 will be an W-11855M, 32GB ECC 3200, A4000, 256GB SSD, 4K 120HZ, FIPS etc.

    I also just ordered additional 32GB ECC (2 16GB) for together 182 Euro exTax - specifically for the 7760 I'm getting - so I dont even think for that price to look aynwhere else as its 100% dell for a sane pricing;

    That would be a phenomenal upgrade from the P3200. Also curious; what are the warranty terms on your new 7760? (Just so I have more ammunition to push for more warranty).
